Alan Carr

Alan is the newest addition of the Edward's team, a degree-qualified Architectural Technologist who prioritises high-quality on-site work; with a keen eye for detail, nothing is ignored. He has over 25 years of post-qualification experience in small/medium-sized local architectural businesses. Over the years, he has contributed to several projects in a variety of industries, including retail, business, healthcare, and housing. Along with providing internal drawing packages, Alan has worked alongside local contractors to assist with administrative, site, and procurement tasks.

Chris Robertson

Job Titles:
  • Senior Technologist
Chris is a Chartered Architectural Technologist and Certified Passivhaus Designer, with a keen interest in sustainable design, in particular the technical aspects of delivery and quality. Chris has 20 years industry experience working of projects in most sectors of the industry from small residential extensions through large scale social housing, Healthcare leisure, retail and industrial projects of varying sizes, and is well versed in current legislation and regulatory requirements, as well as future standards for the industry, which underpin the sustainable design ethos he is keen to promote to clients.

Christine Mottershead

Job Titles:

Christine is an experienced RIBA chartered architect specialising in residential, mixed-use projects and contextually sensitive design solutions. Since graduating from Northumbria University in 2019, she has gained varied experience from concept to construction in conservation areas, national parks as well as urban developments in city centres. In addition, Christine has a keen interest in sustainable design principles which she believes is an essential element of good design.

David Owen

Since joining Edwards Architecture in 2015, David has been the lead designer on a range of high profile projects within both the residential and older persons sector. He has an excellent amount of experience in both the public and private sectors, specialising in extra care, sheltered housing, care homes, retirement village and assisted living scheme. David has also been involved with many listed buildings, including Beddell House, Sherburn, a grade II listed extra care in Durham which was shortlisted in the Conservation and Regeneration category at the CENE Awards. David is experienced in all areas of leading building projects, from initial feasibility and developing a brief, through to planning, tendering and construction processes and on to practical completion. He has also worked previously in other architectural practices specialising in residential and master planning. David has a strong interest in heritage buildings and is currently studying to become a member of the AABC.

Erin Dix

After graduating from Northumbria University in 2022, Erin joined Edwards as a Junior Technologist. Erin has expanded her technical skills since joining the practise and is aiming towards becoming a CIAT Chartered Technologist. Erin's focus is the reuse of existing buildings and sustainable construction, and she is eager to incorporate these principles into her work. She has obtained experience in a variety of areas during her time with the firm, including residential, education, and social housing. Erin strives to provide high-end, high-quality finishing to her clients and keeps this in mind when evaluating building technology.

Russell Edwards - Managing Director

Russell is the Managing Director of Edwards Architecture and has been a practicing Architect for over 15 years. Russell formed the practice with quality and creative Architecture at its heart, along with innovation and new technologies including setting up the practice to be fully BIM enabled. Russell has vast experience in a wide range of sectors including residential and extra care developments and has won a number of awards during this time including a highly commended award for Conservation for Longhirst Hall, a Grade II listed estate, and winner at the CENE Awards for both innovation and off-site project of the year. Russell is something of a specialist in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), with a number of successful modular and offsite projects such as the innovative HUSK concept, transforming disused garage sites into modern bungalows, suitable for later living.
