ANNAPOLIS WEST HEALTH FOUNDATION - Key Persons

Brittanie Hudson

Investing in our youth always brings in dividends. Brittanie Hudson is contributing to the health and welfare of her community as she pursues her chosen profession as a Registered Nurse. We're pleased to say that the AWHF helped her on the way. Brittanie completed her Bachelor of Nursing Program at Dalhousie University and was a recipient of the Annapolis West Kings District Bursary from 2009 through 2012. "The Bursary provided me with the opportunity to focus on my studies by supporting me financially", she explains. As a participant in the program Brittanie also secured a full-time permanent position on the Medical Unit at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville. She says that working on the Medical Unit has allowed her to continue her learning curve as an RN and to enhance her skills as a nurse. "Being a Registered Nurse is an extremely rewarding job. I love going to work knowing I have the chance to help the members of my community." Brittanie believes that the Bursary Program has played a big part in her success. "Whether you are pursuing a career in nursing, nutrition, physiotherapy or another health-related career, the bursary provides you with the opportunity to get where you want to be."

In partnership with the Annapolis Community Health Centre Auxiliary the Annapolis West Health Foundation is pleased to offer an Education Bursary to Lauren Longmire for the school year of 2019-2020. Lauren is studying at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in the Bachelor of Science Nursing program. Lauren shared with us, "I chose to study nursing as I wanted to be in a profession where I am able to help and care for others and make a difference. Following completion of my degree, I would love to stay in the Annapolis Valley and work as a Registered Nurse. I am hoping to go into either Labour and Delivery nursing or Emergency Room nursing." The Annapolis West Health Foundation and the Annapolis Community Health Centre Auxiliary are pleased to offer this bursary to Lauren. We wish her all the best in her studies and much success in her future career as a Registered Nurse.

Rosanne Peach

Job Titles:
  • Member of the Board
A former teacher, Rosanne Peach lives with her husband John in Granville Centre NS and is the proud grandmother of three. Giving back has always been a part of her life. "As a young family with our two active boys, Shawn and Russell, we didn't always feel we could donate financially, but I felt that donation of my time was just as valuable," she explains. Rosanne began volunteering with the Annapolis General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary in 1977. That work sparked an interest in healthcare in her community. " It (the Auxiliary) is such an important part of the Annapolis community and we have experienced, and survived, so many changes over the years." Beginning in 1984, Rosanne served as the Auxiliary representative on the Annapolis General Hospital /Annapolis Community Health Centre Boards and was also the AGH/ACHC representative to the Blanchard Memorial Hospital Board/Valley Regional Hospital Board. She also represented the Annapolis Facilities on the Nova Scotia Health Association Board. In 1992, along with her colleagues David Armstrong and Tim Roan, Rosanne presented a proposal to the Annapolis General Hospital Board recommending the formation of a Foundation. That proposal was accepted and the Annapolis West Health Foundation was born. Over the years Rosanne has been Vice-Chair and Secretary/Treasurer of the AWHF Board, and has served as Chair of the Annapolis Seniors' Safety Advisory Committee, and the Education Committee. She also helped out as Secretary of several Foundation committees and during the late 1990s and early 2000s she was Stage Manager for the ACHC Variety Shows. But not all of Rosanne's time is devoted to community health care. She sings in her Church Choir and is a longstanding member of the Annapolis & District Drama Group, taking on several jobs including Secretary, Stage Manager, Dressmaker and Costume Manager. Her sewing skills made her a big part of the Port Royal 400 Celebration as an authentic costume maker. How does she fit it all in? She takes great satisfaction in contributing to the quality of live where she lives. "I enjoy donating my time and talents to the community."
