Alex has over 20 years of data warehousing and business intelligence consulting experience across multiple industries. His experience includes solution delivery for BI and data quality initiatives. His core strengths include managing global projects involving teams across multiple locations. Prior to Athena Solutions Alex was responsible for BI solutions at Pitney Bowes and was Director of Business Intelligence and Data Quality at Monster.com. His other clients included Price Waterhouse Coopers, PTC, Fidelity, Teradyne, EMC, Citizens Bank, and others. Alex has MBA from Boston College and MS from Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture. Alex is certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) from PMI.

Alla is an information architect and team leader with 20 years of designing Business Intelligence solutions for clients for variety of industries. In the recent years, her focus was on driving Data Maturity in organizations by facilitating, laying the foundation, and supporting of Data Governance and Data Quality programs. She has an excellent track record with the stakeholders for her results-driven and flexible approach focusing on constant improvement and tying data roadmaps to business targets. Alla holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Trinity College and a Master of Engineering from St. Petersburg Telecommunications University.
Kristi has over 25 years of corporate business experience that includes Marketing, analytics, data solutions and business intelligence. She has a track record of delivering innovative and custom-built data-driven solutions that empower businesses to make informed decisions. Her passion is collaborating with clients and technical teams to create data solutions that drive growth and success. Kristi's business acumen helps to provide data preparation and data cleansing solutions that empower businesses to work with accurate and reliable data. Prior to Athena-Solutions, Kristi oversaw and managed the Data Analytics department for an insurance and financial services firm. Kristi has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and an MBA from Drake University.
Rick Sherman, who passed away in 2023, founded Athena Solutions. Rick loved data management and especially loved sharing his knowledge with clients and students. In addition to consulting and speaking at conferences he taught BI courses at Northeastern University's Graduate School of Engineering. His book Business Intelligence Guidebook - From Data Integration to Analytics (Morgan Kaufmann 2014) is used by practitioners and as a textbook in hundreds of colleges and universities across the globe. Rick and Alex Kangoun worked closely for many years. As Alex takes over leadership of Athena Solutions he continues to infuse the principles of the Business Intelligence Guidebook in the company's client work.
