During the winter and spring of 2005, Jim & Phil worked with Canadian Pacific Railway to develop a plan for establishing an avalanche risk-management program for the Mountain Subdivision which extends from Revelstoke to Field. Ava Terra Services Inc. was formed to provide these services for the CPR, while still maintaining and providing independent contracting services to clients that both principals have been active with over the years... The AvaTerra team includes Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA) avalanche professionals and members of Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, several with 30-40+ years of professional experience. All members of the team are CAA Level-2 certified avalanche technicians and senior team professionals have CAA Level-3 credentials; providing hazard and risk assessments, monitoring, planning, forecasting, avalanche control, and operational program expertise.
