Susan E. Brown became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed by the State of Louisiana in 1991. In 2009, Susan Brown started Brown Forensic Accounting, APAC, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Susan Brown became a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) in 2009 as designated by the National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). The CFE Credential is granted based on anti-fraud experience and passing the CFE Exam. In 2010, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) granted Susan Brown the specialized credential of being Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) which is granted to CPA's who have demonstrated considerable expertise in Forensic Accounting through their knowledge, skill and experience. Her extensive years of experience include professional services in the areas of Public Accounting and Auditing. Ms. Brown joined the New Orleans Office of Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1989 where she worked in a variety of industries including Governmental, Not-for-Profit, Healthcare, Banking, Retail, Gaming, International Shipping, Lumber and Oil and Gas. Ms. Brown also assisted in litigation support and forensic accounting on several cases including employee theft and the Savings and Loan failures in the early 1990's. As an Audit Manager, Ms. Brown was in charge of running the Internal Audit Departments for several mid-sized banks in the state of Louisiana who had out sourced the internal audit function to Arthur Andersen. Susan Brown also previously worked for a law enforcement agency as a forensic auditor where provided targeted forensic accounting assistance with audits, investigations, inspections and performance reviews conducted to determine the efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of governmental programs. She investigated alleged improprieties at all levels of city government including the detection of fraud and the collection of evidence to support or refute allegations involving employee theft malfeasance in office, payroll fraud, conspiracy, and misappropriation of public funds. She received her Bachelor of Science degree with a Concentration in Accounting from Tulane University's A. B. Freeman School of Business. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the AICPA's Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) Section, the Louisiana Society of CPAs (LCPA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). She currently serves as a Board Member on the New Orleans Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a Member of the Litigations Services Committee of the Society of Louisiana CPAs.
