Angela Sun

Angela has been providing tax advisement and consultation services to clients at Barker Viggato LLP since 2012. She has developed a passion for helping her clients and colleagues navigate the complexities of the tax world with confidence. Angela specializes in organization and management of engagements to achieve project efficiency. She brings a thoughtful, patient approach to client projects and analysis. Angela serves a variety of clients include partnerships/LLCs, REITs, Trusts, and complex individuals. Angela holds her CPA license in Texas and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and the University of Texas at Dallas with a Master of Science in Accounting. Angela's areas of practice include the following: Oversight and management of large-scale federal and state tax compliance engagements Tax planning for state and local tax matters including multi-state apportionment, nexus, and various state tax issues Representation services for clients with the IRS and various state and local jurisdictions Tax projections and planning for executives and families including family limited partnerships and trusts Trust and gift tax reporting for families to achieve wealth transfer objectives Complex partnership allocations, target capital analysis and capital account maintenance for partnerships and LLCs Advisement and tax reporting for fixed assets classification and business purchase/ sale transactions Financial statement analysis for book/tax differences and tax basis adjustments Outside of her professional life, Angela loves to travel and explore different cultures and cuisines. She especially enjoys spending time in Europe, where you'll most likely find her wandering around Italy with a gelato in hand. Angela is also fluent in conversational Mandarin Chinese and loves reading fantasy novels and relaxing with her cat at home. She brings her balanced approach to life and a commitment to growth and happiness to her clients and the public accounting profession.

Doug Viggato

Doug has been providing tax consulting and compliance services to clients since 1996. He currently serves clients ranging from large scale enterprises to executives and closely held businesses. Doug is passionate about communication and writing and strives to incorporate effective communication into his professional tax services. Doug's primary practice is in the tax advisement of Partnerships/LLCs, S-corporations, Trusts and complex individuals in industries such as real estate, energy, professional services and investment management. Doug is a founding partner of Barker Viggato in 2004. Prior to Barker Viggato, Doug served in management positions with two respected CPA firms, including a national public accounting firm. Doug is a licensed CPA in Texas and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Doug graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting with an emphasis in Taxation.

Kristin Martin

Kristin Martin has been practicing in public accounting with Barker Viggato, LLP since 2019. Kristin's accounting career has been focused exclusively on tax matters working on tax compliance and research for entities in various industries such as real estate, hospitality, and energy, as well as executive tax services such as family partnerships, trusts and complex tax compliance and planning. Prior to public accounting, Kristin had a career in education both in the public school system and university level. She worked in the Texas Tech Rawls College of Business Center for Professional Development coordinating the graduate program and continuing education courses. Her education career also included classroom instruction for six years. Kristin's career path has helped to shape her into a well-rounded CPA with a unique perspective and has contributed to her comprehensive approach to client service and communication. Kristin holds her CPA license in Texas and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Kristin is a graduate of Texas Tech University where she received her Master's in Business Administration and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with her Master's of Accounting. Kristin's areas of practice include: Large tax compliance engagements including oversight of complex data and communications Tax compliance and planning for partnerships, LLCs, S-corporations and trusts Tax estimate and planning analysis for complex individuals and entities Multi-state tax compliance for partnerships, REIT structures, and individuals REIT services, including quarterly testing and E&P analysis Fixed asset and depreciation analysis Analysis of financial statements for tax reporting adjustments IRS and state revenue department representation services for resolution of tax account issues Kristin and her husband, Ryan, reside in Plano with their dog Rider. Kristin's interests outside of work include fitness and watching football and basketball with Ryan. They enjoy attending Texas Tech and Kansas City Chiefs games. Kristin's favorite aspect of working in public accounting is helping solve problems for a variety of clients.

Mark Barker

Mark has been providing tax consulting and compliance services to clients since 1985. His clients include institutional real estate owners, executives, and closely held businesses. Mark finds a sense of pride and accomplishment in helping his clients achieve their tax goals. Through his years of experience Mark has developed a strong understanding of the challenges that clients face and develops effective solutions in a responsive manner. Mark is a founding partner of Barker Viggato, LLP in 2004. Prior to Barker Viggato, LLP, Mark served as a tax partner in the Dallas office of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he specialized in real estate and investment management clients. He has instructed courses on partnership taxation, REITs, and client seminars. Mark holds his CPA license in Texas and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). Mark graduated from the University of North Texas with a Master of Science in Accounting with an emphasis in Taxation. Mark's areas of practice include the following: Tax planning and structuring for REIT formation transactions and asset acquisitions and dispositions Consulting on REIT asset and income tests Tax planning, projections, and compliance for individuals and family limited partnerships Preparation of ASC 740 tax calculations for financial statement reporting Oversight and management of federal and state tax compliance engagements Consulting on like kind exchange transactions and Delaware Statutory Trusts Tax planning and structuring for real estate partnership transactions, including complex partnership allocations Consulting regarding the tax aspects of business purchase and sale transactions Consultation and structuring regarding business entity selection for tax efficiency and liability protection Multi state apportionment analysis and allocation When Mark is not working, he likes to spend time with his family. Mark's favorite activities are fly fishing and hiking anywhere in the Rocky Mountains. His favorite place outside of Texas is Breckenridge, Colorado.

Ross Kirshner

Ross has been practicing public accounting and serving clients with complex tax issues since 2015. Through his tenure at Barker Viggato, Ross has developed a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by executives and businesses across various sectors. Ross is known for his efficiency and responsiveness, and his practice often involves time-sensitive issues requiring effective results. Ross advises in multiple areas of taxation including compliance for individual, fiduciary, partnership, corporate, and transaction consulting. Ross's clients include public and private REITS, Delaware Statutory Trusts (DSTs), S Corporations, small business owners, executives, trusts, and family limited partnerships. Ross holds his CPA license in Texas and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Ross graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration, and a Master of Science in Accounting.
