Dr. Ying has more than 10 years of experience in nucleotide therapeutics and he has served as a leader at Dicerna Pharmaceuticals and Moderna Therapeutics with focus on formulation research and drug delivery in oncology and a variety of liver diseases. Currently, Dr. Ying is the director in formulation research at Trucode Gene Repair, a biotech company trying to cure disorders induced by gene mutation. Prior to joining Trucode Gene Repair, Dr. Ying oversaw oncology formulation research at Moderna Therapeutics as well as the collaboration between Moderna and AstraZeneca. His work has led to the nomination of "N1GL" as the next-gen lead for mRNA delivery in cancer immunotherapy. At Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Ying has invented EnCore technology for specific delivery of siRNA to tumors, developed scale up process for GMP manufacture and successfully transferred the technology to CMO in Europe. The drug product (DRC-MYC) based on Dr. Ying's research has completed phase I evaluation in liver cancer patients and demonstrated clinical proof of concept with specific target knock-down in patients. At both positions, Dr. Ying has been granted several patents in drug delivery technology. Dr. Liping Zhou is currently a senior scientist at Ipsen Biosciences at Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is in charge of the early formulation effort, characterizing drug candidates, assessing their solubility and stability, supporting all the US research and development projects. Prior to joining Ipsen, she worked for Novartis for 11 years. Her responsibilities ranged from eADME profiling to developability assessment of drug candidates supporting Novartis research projects from lead optimization phase up to phase I clinical trial. Liping obtained her PhD degree in analytical chemistry from University of Connecticut. Her research work then focused on the development of a geno-toxicity biosensor using micro-balances and electrochemistry detection. She has nearly 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. Liping has been very active in the Chinese professional community since she moved to Boston area in 2003. Dr. Lixin Shen currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of Wuxi Howfond Biopharma Co., Ltd. Dr. Shen obtained his Ph.D. from University of Waterloo in 1999 and M.S. from University of Toronto in 1995. Dr. Shen has worked in both public and private companies, and ranked from senior scientist to vice president before the current position. Dr. Shujia (Daniel) Dai is a Principal Research Investigator at Sanofi-Aventis. He received his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy in Japanese from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University in 2000, and Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry from Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine in 2005. Then he started postdoctoral research work in the Barnett Institute at the Northeastern University (NEU), Boston, MA, developing novel technologies for the detection of posttranslational modifications in proteins and quantitative proteomics for biological studies of varied diseases. Dr. Wei Zhang is staff scientist in Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics which was previously known as Bayer Healthcare Diagnostics. He has over 20 years of innovative experience in medical devices including IVD, critical care and lab instrumentation products. His strong expertise in chemical-/bio- sensor technologies and microfluidics/MEMS application makes him the key technical lead in several Point of Care Testing (POCT) products. Before Dr. Zhang joined in Siemens (Bayer) in 2006, he worked as senior scientist in Sensicore Inc. which is a General Electric company (2004 to 2006). He led lab-on-a-chip product development and product launch that is used in municipal water monitoring systems. He also worked as senior scientist in Delphi Automotive Group (Tech Center) in 2003 and a startup company of Advanced Sensor Technologies as project manager (2004). During 2000 to 2002, Dr. Zhang did his postdoc fellow work at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in Chemistry and Solid State Electronics focusing on advance chemical and bio- sensor technologies in clinical applications. Dr. Zhang completed his Ph.D. degree from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) from 1994-1999 in Chemistry and Pharmacy. Dr. Yin Chen is a biotech entrepreneur with over 14 experiences in the industry. After serving as Chief Scientific Officer in a biotech company for 9 years, he co-foundered and became President/CEO of MTT Pharmaceuticals in 2008. From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Yang was a post-doctoral fellow at Yale University and Harvard University. Dr. Yang started his industry career at Pharmacia (which later became a part of Pfizer) in 2000, where he conducted research focusing on the identification and characterization of novel drug targets for diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. In 2003 he joined Wyeth Research, now also a part of Pfizer, and has been leading cross-functional drug discovery project teams to develop novel therapeutics (both small molecules and biologicals) to treat respiratory diseases, chronic kidney diseases, and other inflammatory diseases. He has co-authored more than 20 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, and is also a co-inventor on 2 US patents. He has been invited to speak at several professional conferences, including the prestigious Gordon Research Conference. Dr. Yang is the recipient of a number of awards such as the CAS President's Award for Distinguished Graduate Student (1995), and the NIH Individual National Research Service Award (1998). He is an ad hoc reviewer for Arthritis Foundation grants, and for multiple scientific journals. He served as the President of Chinese-American BioMedical Association (CABA) for the 2014-2015 term.

Susan Qu, Ph.D. MBA, Past president (2015-2016), External Manufacturing Integrated Risk Manager, Genzyme Corporation, a division of Sanofi, Framingham, MA Dr. Qu is the Genzyme External Manufacturing Integrated Risk Manager, responsible for establishing an integrated risk management program (based on ICH Q9) to support the CMO network within Genzyme Industrial Operations. Her responsibilities include establishing risk management program and developing novel risk management tools to identify, evaluate, document, and communicate risks that have quality, contractual, financial, legal, supply chain, HS&E, and/or regulatory implications. Prior to the risk manager role, Dr. Qu was a Quality Intelligence and Strategy Principal Project Manager in Genzyme. She specializes in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech Quality System creation, coordination, and lifecycle Management, especially in the supplier and subcontractor management area. Dr. Qu manages multi-functional global teams to streamline and harmonize business processes for continued improvement. Dr. Qu is also an expert in formulation development and assay design and development for therapeutic biomolecules (proteins, enzymes, viral vectors, etc.), including biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays. Dr. Qu graduated from Emory University with a Ph.D. in the field of Biomolecular Analytical Chemistry. Dr. Qu also obtained her MBA degree from Babson College.
