Dr. Ying has more than 10 years of experience in nucleotide therapeutics and he has served as a leader at Dicerna Pharmaceuticals and Moderna Therapeutics with focus on formulation research and drug delivery in oncology and a variety of liver diseases. Currently, Dr. Ying is the director in formulation research at Trucode Gene Repair, a biotech company trying to cure disorders induced by gene mutation.
Prior to joining Trucode Gene Repair, Dr. Ying oversaw oncology formulation research at Moderna Therapeutics as well as the collaboration between Moderna and AstraZeneca. His work has led to the nomination of "N1GL" as the next-gen lead for mRNA delivery in cancer immunotherapy. At Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Ying has invented EnCore technology for specific delivery of siRNA to tumors, developed scale up process for GMP manufacture and successfully transferred the technology to CMO in Europe. The drug product (DRC-MYC) based on Dr. Ying's research has completed phase I evaluation in liver cancer patients and demonstrated clinical proof of concept with specific target knock-down in patients. At both positions, Dr. Ying has been granted several patents in drug delivery technology.
Dr. Ying received his bachelor's degree in life sciences and master's degree in neuroscience from Fudan University, Shanghai, China, and a Ph.D. degree in pharmaceutical sciences from Northeastern University.

She has also worked at Ironwood, Eisai and Johnson Matthey with scientific and technical focuses. Carrie has almost twenty years of analytical development experience in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries. Her areas of expertise include CMC project management for all development activities from preclinical, clinical to product registration, analytical method development and validation, impurity identification by mass spectrometry and regulatory submission for FDA and EMA. Carrie received her Bachelor degree in Chemistry from University of Science and Technology in China and her Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry from Colorado State University. Dr. Liping Zhou is currently a senior scientist at Ipsen Biosciences at Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is in charge of the early formulation effort, characterizing drug candidates, assessing their solubility and stability, supporting all the US research and development projects. Prior to joining Ipsen, she worked for Novartis for 11 years. Her responsibilities ranged from eADME profiling to developability assessment of drug candidates supporting Novartis research projects from lead optimization phase up to phase I clinical trial. Liping obtained her PhD degree in analytical chemistry from University of Connecticut. Her research work then focused on the development of a geno-toxicity biosensor using micro-balances and electrochemistry detection. She has nearly 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
Liping has been very active in the Chinese professional community since she moved to Boston area in 2003. She was one of the funding members of CABA.

Dr. Lixin Shen currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of Wuxi Howfond Biopharma Co., Ltd. Dr. Shen obtained his Ph.D. from University of Waterloo in 1999 and M.S. from University of Toronto in 1995. Dr. Shen has worked in both public and private companies, and ranked from senior scientist to vice president before the current position. He has a broad range of experiences such as drug discovery and development, project and technology management, and business development and company management in both USA and China. Dr. Shen also served as the president of Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association - New England from 2004 to 2005 and chairman of its executive advisory committee from 2005 to 2006. Dr. Shujia (Daniel) Dai is a Principal Research Investigator at Sanofi-Aventis. He received his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy in Japanese from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University in 2000, and Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry from Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine in 2005. Then he started postdoctoral research work in the Barnett Institute at the Northeastern University (NEU), Boston, MA, developing novel technologies for the detection of posttranslational modifications in proteins and quantitative proteomics for biological studies of varied diseases. Dr. Dai had served as a Senior Scientist, Principal Scientist, and Research Assistant Professor at NEU from 2007-2013. Then, Dr. Dai joined the Biochemistry and Bioanalytics group of Oncology at Sanofi-Aventis, Cambridge MA. Since 2013, Dr. Dai has served as a Senior Research investigator to the present position, working on the drug on/off target identification, biomarker discovery, drug mechanism of action, comprehensive protein characterization using novel mass spectrometry and bioinformatics derived technologies.

Dr. Wei Zhang is staff scientist in Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics which was previously known as Bayer Healthcare Diagnostics. He has over 20 years of innovative experience in medical devices including IVD, critical care and lab instrumentation products. His strong expertise in chemical-/bio- sensor technologies and microfluidics/MEMS application makes him the key technical lead in several Point of Care Testing (POCT) products. Before Dr. Zhang joined in Siemens (Bayer) in 2006, he worked as senior scientist in Sensicore Inc. which is a General Electric company (2004 to 2006). He led lab-on-a-chip product development and product launch that is used in municipal water monitoring systems. He also worked as senior scientist in Delphi Automotive Group (Tech Center) in 2003 and a startup company of Advanced Sensor Technologies as project manager (2004). During 2000 to 2002, Dr. Zhang did his postdoc fellow work at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in Chemistry and Solid State Electronics focusing on advance chemical and bio- sensor technologies in clinical applications.
Dr. Zhang completed his Ph.D. degree from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) from 1994-1999 in Chemistry and Pharmacy. He also worked for Roche Diagnostics and AVL Medical Instruments during this period. Dr. Zhang got M.S. and B.S. in chemistry from Zhengzhou University. He holds 11 patents and over 40 peer-reviewed papers.

Dr. Yin Chen is a biotech entrepreneur with over 14 experiences in the industry. After serving as Chief Scientific Officer in a biotech company for 9 years, he co-foundered and became President/CEO of MTT Pharmaceuticals in 2008. Dr. Chen is currently consulting for several US and international pharmaceutical companies for product marketing, business development and fund raising.
Dr. Chen received his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Science & Technology China, Master of Science degree from Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Ph.D degree from University of Maine. Dr. Zhiyong Yang is an Associate Research Fellow at Pfizer Inc. He received his Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Nankai University in 1989, and his Ph.D. degree in molecular/cell biology from Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1995. From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Yang was a post-doctoral fellow at Yale University and Harvard University. Dr. Yang started his industry career at Pharmacia (which later became a part of Pfizer) in 2000, where he conducted research focusing on the identification and characterization of novel drug targets for diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. In 2003 he joined Wyeth Research, now also a part of Pfizer, and has been leading cross-functional drug discovery project teams to develop novel therapeutics (both small molecules and biologicals) to treat respiratory diseases, chronic kidney diseases, and other inflammatory diseases. He has co-authored more than 20 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, and is also a co-inventor on 2 US patents. He has been invited to speak at several professional conferences, including the prestigious Gordon Research Conference. Dr. Yang is the recipient of a number of awards such as the CAS President's Award for Distinguished Graduate Student (1995), and the NIH Individual National Research Service Award (1998). He is an ad hoc reviewer for Arthritis Foundation grants, and for multiple scientific journals. He served as the President of Chinese-American BioMedical Association (CABA) for the 2014-2015 term.

Jian Shao is currently the founder and CEO of Sword Therapeutics, a startup developing a cure for patients suffering from chronic hepatitis B infection.
Jian was a medicinal chemist at Novartis in 2004-2013 and took leadership positions in Drug Discovery programs managing both internal and external resources. In 2014, Jian worked at Biogen's Corporate Strategy department, developing comprehensive commercial assessment on rare diseases. In 2015, Jian joined Azimuth Ventures as a venture partner, focusing on sourcing and evaluating new opportunities as well as assessing potential for global markets expansion for existing portfolio companies. Dr. Fang currently is a Senior Director, Medicinal Chemistry at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., headquartered in Marlborough, MA. Dr. Qu is the Genzyme External Manufacturing Integrated Risk Manager, responsible for establishing an integrated risk management program (based on ICH Q9) to support the CMO network within Genzyme Industrial Operations. Her responsibilities include establishing risk management program and developing novel risk management tools to identify, evaluate, document, and communicate risks that have quality, contractual, financial, legal, supply chain, HS&E, and/or regulatory implications.
Prior to the risk manager role, Dr. Qu was a Quality Intelligence and Strategy Principal Project Manager in Genzyme. She specializes in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech Quality System creation, coordination, and lifecycle Management, especially in the supplier and subcontractor management area. Dr. Qu manages multi-functional global teams to streamline and harmonize business processes for continued improvement. Dr. Qu is also an expert in formulation development and assay design and development for therapeutic biomolecules (proteins, enzymes, viral vectors, etc.), including biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays.
Dr. Qu graduated from Emory University with a Ph.D. in the field of Biomolecular Analytical Chemistry. Dr. Qu also obtained her MBA degree from Babson College.

Dr. Xiangyang Yu is a Program Manager at Accellient Partner. She was a principal investigator of medicinal chemistry at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals. She had been passionately involved in drug discovery programs in multiple therapeutical areas as well as efficiently and strategically managing external drug discovery collaborations in the US, Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Ironwood, Dr. Yu was Associate Director and then Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Epix Pharmaceuticals leading successful drug discovery programs. She was the project leader for S1P program licensed to Amgen for highly potent, selective and orally active agents for autoimmune diseases. Dr. Yu was also a project leader for GSK collaborative discovery program which resulted in multiple milestone payments. Before joining Epix, she led multiple anti-infectious programs at Activbiotics and Cubist Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Yu has critical scientific and management job skills including strategic alliances, leadership, inventorship and drafting of patents and publications. She has extensive experience in advance compounds from discovery screening to preclinical & clinical development. Dr. Yu obtained Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Florida State University. She received her undergraduate degree from East China University of Science & Technology in Shanghai, China. Dr. Yu was the President of Chinese American BioMedical Association (CABA) in 2013-2014 and is currently a Board Director of CABA.

Dr. Wang recently founded a drug discovery company--Shenzhen TargetRx, Inc. and serves as its President/CEO. He was the Associate director of Chemistry at ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc. until April 2013. Yihan Wang received his B.Sc. in chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China, and Ph. D. in chemistry from New York University. He then joined ARIAD in 1997, served in its drug discovery department until 2013. Yihan is the primary author of approximately 88 scientific publications, patents and conference abstracts. Yihan is the editor of "Chemical Biology and Drug Design", and is the reviewers for many professional journals. Yihan co-founded Chinese-American BioMedical Association (CABA) in 2007 and currently is a board director.
