Employed by a Retail Design Company for over seven years, Charles has experience working with companies such as Elizabeth Arden, Estee Lauder, Carnegie / Mellon University and Kellogg. Developing state of the art retail environments he was in charge of design, lighting, signage, propping, furniture, millwork, and selection of colors and materials.
In 1998, Charles joined a design company to build a thirteen million dollar corporate office space for an advertising agency located in Southfield Michigan. For two years as the Interior Architect responsible for interior space planning and design, he worked closely with the building architects and engineers, lighting consultants, audio/visual designers, and sculptors. Bringing in a team from Knoll International, he managed the development of custom office cubicles, and fabrics.
Featured in magazines such as This Old House, Better Homes and Gardens, Old House Interiors, and most recently Chicago Home Magazine, Charles has extensive experience designing and building custom homes. From renovation of existing structures to new construction, he is experienced with documentation, specification, bidding, permitting, and construction supervision.
In 2001, Charles moved back to his hometown of Fennville to start his own company. His focus is on the development of regional architecture with an emphasis on honesty in construction. He brings to his clients' unique design solutions using state or the art building materials and systems. His goal is to develop an architectural style that lowers construction costs without compromising design. Since his return in 2001, eleven local clients have received design awards from the Saugatuck / Douglas Historical Society.
