Having graduated from Concordia University in Montreal with a BFA and worked in Europe, Amelia joined us here at CTA in 2020. She uses her art background, along with her passion for research and archiving, to support the studio team in filing and Construction Admin tasks. Outside of work, Amelia enjoys traveling and food (preferably together), as well as reading, cooking, film, and art and design.
Architecture is full of surprises and Anita loves how this keeps her on her toes. Since graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2018, Anita has harnessed her problem solving abilities, people skills, and aptitude for design, turning into a brilliant Intern Architect in the process. She loves the collaborative nature of architecture and witnessing the integration of several disciplines to make a building function the way it should. Collaborating with like-minded design colleagues at CTA is the cherry on top of the cake!
Anita indulges her competitive side by playing board games in her free time. She also enjoys travelling and getting out into nature, making Vancouver a perfect homebase.

Since 2022, Arturo has brought his specialized interior design and layout improvement skills to CTA. He has advanced knowledge of materials and brands and is skilled in customizing designs to suit specific project needs. Outside of work, Arturo enjoys painting and sketching, taking aesthetic photos of quotidian objects, finding new recipes to try, and spending lots of quality time with friends and family.

Throughout her journey in communications, graphic design, and working as a visual effects artist in the film industry, Ashley has discovered a deep passion for diverse forms of media. After joining CTA in August of 2023, architectural proposals is another medium that was added to the list. She finds the most joy in seeing pursuits come to fruition, assisting the marketing team to achieve their visions, and generally lending a helping hand to whoever needs it.

Having graduated with an MPhil (Medicine) from the University of Hong Kong in 2017, followed by a master's degree in architecture at UBC in 2021, Boris has a uniquely blended background in both healthcare and architecture. His wide-ranging knowledge and experience in conducting biomedical science research makes him a real asset when working on healthcare and research facility projects here at CTA.
Boris is thorough, hardworking, and always ready to go above and beyond, whether producing drawings in the office or going for trail walks during the weekends (he holds the office record for most steps walked in a week). He also enjoys photography, watching stand-up comedy, and reading about railway & aviation design history. Is there anything he can't do?!

Chernoff Thompson Architects (CTA) is a partnership that is under the leadership of Russell Chernoff, Naomi Gross,Tony Yip and Vicki Sucic Hruskovec. We are Vancouver based, and specialize in innovative, holistic design solutions for Post-Secondary Education, Civic, Corporate, and Public Sector Clients. Established in 1981 in Vancouver, we have continued to expand our scope of practice with projects throughout BC and across Canada and the USA.
We also have affiliated firms under overlapping ownership: Chernoff Thompson Architects North in Prince George, BC, and Jensen Chernoff Thompson Architects in Victoria, BC. Currently, we have active projects in British Columbia, Ontario, Washington State, and Hawaii. A company that wants to maintain the very highest standards needs someone to lend a watchful eye. Erl performs this duty relentlessly for us here at CTA. He graduated from Vancouver Vocational Institute (now Vancouver Community College) and then took courses at BCIT in the 1990's in drafting and building technology. In 2003, he joined CTA and was promoted to Project Manager in 2018. His bailiwick? Production quality control and standards, as well as, software management. Erl manages large and small production teams and is responsible for both the quality and clarity of construction documents. He gives particular attention to cost effectiveness, practical details, long term durability and maintenance. Erl was an early adopter of 3D modelling and uses it to resolve complicated construction details and building systems coordination. In fact, he is so adept at 3D modelling he was an instructor at Capilano College for 10 years. Erl has been known to dabble in philosophy. Our philosophy about him: Accept nothing but the best.
Repeat business is a wonderful thing in any industry. And in Architecture it's the sincerest form of flattery. Glenn has been deservedly on the receiving end of these kind of favourable reviews for his work for over 30 years now. Peters attended Universities in Washington, Manitoba and North Carolina and received a Master of Architecture degree from NCSU's School of Design in 1987, together with the AIA Certificate of Merit. He's worked primarily with Provincial, Regional and Civic governments and the Public School and University sectors. His new buildings include Fire Halls, Libraries and Fieldhouses and he's successfully been at the helm of renovations to existing facilities such as Recreation Centres, Universities and Police buildings. These happy clients have happily become repeat clientele. Glenn's visited over forty countries - most of them want him to come back.
Kai is a third-year architectural student at UBC SALA and is currently gaining some hands-on experience as a Co-op Intern at CTA. Kai has always been passionate about architecture, creating graphics posters and building models as a child. Through his degree, he is learning how to develop designs that consider environmental and cultural implications. He is particularly interested in architectural influences on human culture and how architecture can reintroduce a site's cultural references. Outside of design work, Kai enjoys watching films, visiting museums and exhibitions, hiking and barbequing with friends.
While this Vancouver foodie often frequents the supermarket when testing out new recipes, that isn't the only kind of marketing Lysha excels in. Graduating from Langara in 2013, Lysha joined CTA in 2019 and currently works as our Marketing Coordinator. A combination of friendly and assertive, you can count on Lysha to create campaigns that are both beautiful and work to optimize KPIs (key performance indicators). A super marketing whiz in more ways than one, Lysha also helps the company stay relevant to the public eye by manning CTA's official LinkedIn and Instagram. When she's not at the office, you might run into her at the gym; that is, if she's not eating her way through Vancouver's long list of restaurants and cafes.
From balancing accounts to nurturing our office plants (having taken on the unofficial title of Office Gardener), Emily knows the key is in the details! Since joining us in 2021, her kindness, attention to detail, and diligent work ethic have made her a wonderful addition to the accounting team.
Michelle has always been passionate about architecture and has the industry experience to back it up. She has worked on a variety of projects, including mixed-use residential, institutional, and community-type projects. Since joining CTA, she has added laboratory design and consultant coordination expertise to her repertoire. She originally worked for us in 2005-2006 and we're very happy to have her back! Outside of work, Michelle's interests range from playing the piano and singing to photography, sketching, and art journaling. She has accumulated a collection of nearly 50 journals documenting her travels through Europe, Asia, and Africa. On the weekends, she enjoys heading out for an adventure with her husband and two kids.

Natasha joined us in November 2023 after graduating with a degree in English Literature from SFU in 2021. Having spent many years in the service industry, Natasha has honed her communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. We're happy to have her onboard! In her free time, Natasha enjoys reading, visiting used bookstores, and spending time with her cat.
Nicolas graduated from the University Viña del Mar in Chile in 2015 and went on to gain lots of useful experience in New Zealand before moving to Canada in 2018. He definitely has an appreciation for BC architecture, having worked on projects in Vancouver, Whistler, and Bowen Island. He is particularly interested in sustainable design and loves to get inspired by the city he's living in, combining current requirements with future needs.
In his free time, Nicolas enjoys playing guitar and watching science fiction movies, and is always up for a beach tennis match in the sun.

Nidia, a marketing graduate, leverages her expertise across diverse industries and brings a deep understanding of various business sectors. Her experience spans roles in public relations, marketing, and administration, allowing her to adapt to different work environments and apply a wide range of skills to each task as our Workplace Culture Coordinator & Administrative Assistant since 2023. Recognized for her creativity, Nidia excels in crafting solutions to overcome challenges and bringing people together. Outside of work, Nidia enjoys riding her bike, attending comedy shows, and going to Vancouver Symphony Orchestra concerts.

Patricia is a Registered Architect in Brazil, where she graduated from the University of Sao Paulo in 2010. She has worked on a variety of assignments from commercial and industrial projects to retail and movie theatre designs. She is skilled with design software and always ready to learn. We're happy she's been part of the CTA team since 2022. Outside of work, Patricia likes to visit new places, especially outdoors, and spend lots of quality time with her husband and daughter.

Prapti joined the firm in 2023, having completed her B.Arch in India and her M.Arch at UBC. She has a keen interest in all things design and after gaining professional experience in both India and Spain, she is excited to continue her architectural journey here in Vancouver.
In her spare time, Prapti enjoys reading, producing graphics, and painting. She also likes to go to Indian classical dance classes.

Raha completed her Master of Architecture at the University of Manitoba before joining CTA in 2023. During her professional and academic journey in Canada and Iran, she has developed a strong foundation in architecture. She has a comprehensive understanding of spatial organization across different scales, ranging from residential dwellings to urban multi-use projects to healthcare centers and educational buildings. Raha is adept at integrating landscape and architecture and harmonizing space and structure.
Outside of work, Raha is a multifaceted individual whose passions encompass the realms of painting, music, and nature. Often with a palette in one hand, she finds solace and inspiration in the serene beauty of the natural world.

Rand Thompson was key to the success of Chernoff Thompson Architects for 37 years as a designer and mentor of younger colleagues; he provided both professional and personal guidance with passion and spirit.
Rand was passionate about proportion, space, symmetry and design. He talked best with a pen in his hand, drawing as he went. Rand was calm, measured, systematic and practical, a natural mentor.
Rand was a pioneer in computer applications for architectural practice, and he strongly influenced the firm as a business. Rand's lasting legacy will live on through his numerous works and through the work of all of us who were profoundly influenced by his spirit. His insightful contributions and commitment to the firm, colleagues and the profession of architecture leave a foundation for continued success. He is missed.
