Brittany Young-Kiesel

Brittany is originally from Newark, DE and is in Charlottesville with her four cats, Mistletoe, Dot, Alfredo, and Jackson. She has a bachelor degree in animal science from the University of Delaware. Her veterinary interests include behavioral medicine and surgery. She has completed her certification and is a Fear Free Certified Professional (learn more at https://fearfreepets.com/ ) During her free time, Brittany enjoys reading, spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, and spoiling her pets.

Brooke Leatherbury Jimenez

Brooke has been with us since May of 2012 after completing the veterinary technology program at Blue Ridge Community College. She is no longer full time with our staff but still works part-time as relief. Brooke graduated from Mary Baldwin College in 2010 with a primary Degree in Biology and a minor in Studio Art. Brooke enjoys interacting with clients and patients. Horses have always been a major focus in Brooke's life. Her menagerie includes 2 dogs, Marley and Cooper and 5 cats, Angus, Jersey, Moo, Harry and Houdini.

Chris started with our practice in September 2019 as a kennel assistant. His time working here has sparked his interest in the veterinary profession and he is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology Program with Blue Ridge Community College.

Dr. Courtney Hoy

Veterinary Career and Interests: Dr. Hoy returned to our hospital in the summer of 2019. She was on our staff as a veterinary assistant since 2008 prior to veterinary school. Her interest include preventative care, behavior, and surgery. She has completed her certification and is a Fear Free Certified Professional. (learn more at https://fearfreepets.com/) Family and Pets: Dr. Hoy lives in Esmont with her dogs, Duke and Eddie Bauer and her cats, J. Crew, and Kate Spade. Personal Interests and Hobbies: Outside of the practice, Dr. Hoy enjoys exploring local sights and sounds with family and friends, crafting, and taking Duke and Eddie to pet-friendly events!

Dr. John Andersen

Veterinary Career and Interests: After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Andersen started his career at the N.C. State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Here, he worked as an intern gaining experience in internal medicine, specialized surgery, emergency medicine/critical care, and oncology. Dr. Andersen then moved to Charlottesville in 2003 and began working at Monticello Animal Hospital later that year. His veterinary interests remain internal medicine, critical care, and cancer surgery. He has completed his certification and is a Fear Free Certified Professional. Dr. Kimberly Bohne

Veterinary Career and Interests: Dr. Bohne joined Monticello Animal Hospital in 2002. She was the first full-time Associate Veterinarian added to the practice. She enjoys internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and geriatric care. She has completed her certification and is a Fear Free Certified Professional. Personal Interests and Hobbies: Dr. Bohne loves being a mom, gardening, hiking, and dancing.

Dr. Michael Rose

Veterinary Career and Interests: Dr. Rose spent his early veterinary career working with a mixed animal practice where he tended to not only dogs and cats, but also cows, horses, and other farm animals. He later moved to Ohio where he was a busy small animal veterinarian for many years. In 1997, Dr. Rose moved to Charlottesville and opened up Monticello Animal Hospital which has been growing ever since! Dr. Rose enjoys orthopedic surgery, and exotic animal medicine. His wife Linda heroically stays home with the kids, as well as their 4 dogs. Emily Gordon

Emily Thomas

Emily has been with our practice since June 2019. She is a Charlottesville native and UVA alumni. She has a passion for animal behavior, including training and managing behavioral problems. She graduated from the Veterinary Technology Program at Blue Ridge Community College in May 2023. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and her son, going hiking and paddleboarding. Emily has 3 cats; Peanut, Autumn, and Abraham Lincoln.

Justine Kinlaw

Justine joined our practice in 2008. She brings years of customer service experience and prides herself on their care. In her free time Justine enjoys spending time with her husband and their six children. They also have three yorkies: Khloe, Kash and Kingston who they adore!

Shanah is a 2019 graduate of the Veterinary Technology Program at Blue Ridge Community College. Shanah lives on a small farm with her husband, three horses, two dogs, a cat, and a cow. She started her career in veterinary technology at our practice in 2018 and it makes her smile seeing clients pleased with the services we provide for their pets. Steven Rivera

Steven has been with MAH since 1999! He is an important part in caring for our in patient animals as well as in helping us keep the place clean and running. Steven enjoys reading, playing video games, riding his bike, and working with the animals every day.

Wanda Brubaker

Wanda graduated from Blue Ridge Community College and began her career as a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Monticello Animal Hospital in May of 2001. Her veterinary interest include anesthesia and behavior.
