Their 4 legged children currently consists of Delilah - a spaniel mix rescue, Maymun - a domestic shorthair feline rescue, and Aslan - a sheepdog puppy. There is currently an empty guinea pig cage that she hopes to fill again soon! Dr. Seager began working for the Benson Animal Hospitals immediately after graduation and purchased her current location in 1991. She is a general practitioner and provides all routine health care for dogs, cats and small exotic mammals. Because of her early interest in veterinary dentistry (she completed an externship during her senior year in veterinary school with a board certified veterinary dentist), she has attended numerous hours of continuing education programs in dentistry since graduation. Two of her initial big additions to the practice after purchasing it in '91 were a dental x-ray unit and a dental station that included a high speed hand piece with fiber-optics. In addition to dentistry, Dr Seager is also very proud to be one of the few veterinarians in the Tri-county area with over 30 years of experience giving medical treatment and performing surgery on small mammalian exotics (formerly known as "pocket-pets"). In this area, as well, she has attended several continuing education programs though out the years and is an active member of the Exotic Veterinary Medicine Forum. Dr. Seager has always placed a high value on the importance of organized veterinary medicine and giving back to her profession and her community. She has served on the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association Board of Directors as well numerous committees of the MVMA. Locally, she has also served as president, vice president, and secretary of the Mid-State Veterinary Medical Association. Throughout the years, Dr. Seager has enjoyed volunteering at local schools for career days and general public education. In addition, Dr. Seager has also volunteered her time at Michigan State University's CVM mentoring students in their interactive case study course and has taken part in the interviewing process for prospective new veterinary students. In her leisure time, Dr. Seager enjoys taking dance lessons at Ann's School of Dance and working out at a local gym. This year, Jennifer encouraged her mom to begin running as well. (And her mom has loved it!) In general, anything outdoors - from camping to boating to snow skiing - Dr. Seager is happy to participate!
