Amy Doherty

Amy Doherty With a desire to create stronger communities and a dedication to service, Amy Doherty joins the EnVision Leadership team to share her insight, experience, and energy. Amy is a psychology major at Mount Holyoke College. She attended the CT Youth Leadership Forum in 2000, to develop her leadership skills. Amy's service has included working in soup kitchens, tutoring middle school girls, and being a camp counselor. Throughout college she has been an advocate for people with disabilities working to improve disability awareness and accessibility on her college campus. Amy recently completed the Washington Semester Program Transforming Communities Seminar and a semester internship with the National Council on Disability. She has also volunteered at Perkins School for the Blind. Amy is passionate about education, advocating for people with disabilities, and improving our communities.

Anna George

Anna George Influenced by two non-profits, Summer Search and the Posse Foundation, that uniquely shaped both her high school and college experiences, Anna George joins the EnVision Leadership team in the hope that she will affect growth and change in young people. With visions of improving the education system and the inequalities that exist between race, class and gender in the United States, Anna currently studies at Hamilton College. Her leadership in athletics, recognition as a Posse scholar, and facilitation of workshops in Boston, New York, and Costa Rica on a wide variety of issues ranging from from health related topics to diversity and leadership have all contributed to Anna's grace as a Leadership Coach.

Brian Gowdy

Brian Gowdy joined the EnVision Leadership team when he determined the corporate world did not offer him the rewarding leadership opportunity he was looking for. A graduate of the class of 2004 from Holy Cross, Brian has always been interested and active in community development and service. His experience as a resident assistant and involvement in various social justice and awareness programs gave him a team mentality for improvement. As a scholar of political science, Brian understands the importance of community involvement, public partnerships and activism when creating change. An inspirational coach and mentor, Dumisani Nyoni has facilitated workshops for youth and adults all over the world. Since 2001, Dumisani has worked with the global campaign for youth employment launched at the Youth Employment Summit (YES) in Alexandria Egypt in September 2002. His role has centered around mobilizing youth groups in over 60 countries to establish national level coalitions known as YES Country Networks to tackle the challenges of youth unemployment in their countries. Previously, Dumisani worked with the Earth Council Institute, an international organization established as a result of the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and he was instrumental in launching the youth component of the Earth Council's "Earth Charter" initiative. Dumisani serves on the board of several organizations dedicated to youth development work. A lifelong volunteer and social activist, Emily Kumpel is a student at Johns Hopkins University where she is studying mechanical engineering. Her service contributions range from social justice causes such as AIDS advocacy and anti-war efforts to community advancement initiatives like literacy programs and girls' science mentorships. Emily is also the recipient of several prestigious honors such as being a Heart of America Foundation Youth Ambassador and accepting the Young Adult Caring Award. Her outdoor skills recently developed from a winter backpack leadership program, and she intends to continue her wilderness adventures as a pre-orientation outdoor leader in 2003. Emily brings youth, energy, and a wide variety of civic experience to the EnVision team.

Dumisani Nyoni

Dumisani Nyoni is a graduate of Cambridge College with a degree in Organizational Psychology and Management. He has worked with a number of international organizations such as at the Youth Employment Summit Campaign at the Education Development Center in Newton, MA., the Earth Charter Initiative headquartered in San Jose, Costa Rica and Pioneers of Change, a global network of social entrepreneurs in over 70 countries. Dumisani is also part of the executive team of the Sweet Mother Tour project working to create a global movement focused on changing the perceptions of Africa and African people in the media globally with the intention of making an impact on economic and social development in Africa. He also serves on the boards of directors and as an advisor to several organizations such as TakingITGlobal, Eco-Ventures International and the Global Youth ACTION Network. Dumisani recently relocated to Zimbabwe to work in rural development with the Organization of Rural Associations for Progress (ORAP) as the director of the Zimele Institute, which is one of the institutions within ORAP. Dumisani also enjoys music, writing, and informed discussions on a wide range of issues.

Katie Samson

Katie Samson has been an active member of the leadership coaching team since her graduation from Middlebury College in Vermont. For the past three years Katie has been involved with advocacy work for the disabled community as well as educating youth about overcoming obstacles. She serves on an array of foundations in the Philadelphia area such as the National Transplant Assistance Fund, Cease Fire PA, and coaches in a youth lacrosse program. Katie is currently working at the Rosenbach museum and library in Philadelphia coordinating a special exhibition and will be applying to graduate school to study art history next fall. With her interests and experience in art and creative dramatics she brings a different unique perspective to leadership education.

Kelli Neumeyer

Kelli Neumeyer is the newly named Executive Director of EnVision Leadership. Kelli's deep belief in the power of young people to make a positive impact on their communities makes her a strong advocate for youth leadership and for youth taking action on community issues. Prior to her work at EnVision, Kelli managed all aspects of the youth programming department at the YWCA of Cambridge. There, she was able to express one of her greatest passions, empowering young women to advocate for themselves and become leaders in their communities. She revitalized the department by developing and implementing six new programs for girls ages 8-18 and numerous community events on topics ranging from teen economic empowerment to leadership and advocacy. Before relocating to Boston, she worked at the United Way in College Station, TX where she directed an information and referral program that connects people in need with the appropriate human services in their area. While at United Way, Kelli was involved in program development, community outreach, disaster planning and co-founded a Christmas toy drive that serves over 300 children annually. In her role as Executive Director of EnVision Leadership, Kelli looks forward to growing the organization and its capacity to work with schools and communities to build inclusive leadership programming that will be accessible to all students. Kelli holds a B.A. in Speech Communications and Public Relations from Texas A&M University.

Maurise Maclou

Maurise Maclou joined the EnVision Leadership team to share her expertise in design and coordination of global programs. Born in South Africa and raised in Australia, Maurise has traveled the world coordinating conferences and programs for the Australian Government and the Youth Employment Summit Campaign, a project of the Education Development Center. Maurise's workshop facilitation has taken her to Egypt, Tonga, and the United States to develop and enhance the leadership skills of students of all ages.

Nnennia Ejebe

Nnennia Ejebe joins the Envision team with extensive facilitation experience from her years working as a consultant and trainer for the National Youth Leadership Council. Nnennia also served as a Commissioner for the National Commission on Service-Learning. In her position there, she helped develop policies to further service learning in public schools. She also coordinated a national science bowl for high school students at the New England Aquarium. Nnennia came to Cambridge, Massachusetts from St. Paul, Minnesota to study chemical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She currently works as a trainer for the Innovation Center for Community and Youth Development at MIT.

Zara-Marie Spooner

Zara-Marie Spooner joined EnVision Leadership because of the unique opportunities EnVision offers to high school students. Her involvement in various academic, athletic, and community activities led her to investigate new and different applications of leadership education. Zara has worked extensively with community projects in Boston, Massachusetts and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her experience includes acting as a facilitator for the G.I.R.L.S. Project and Girls Pipeline to Power. She also served as former president of the Massachusetts Junior Classical League. Pursuing a degree in psychology, Zara-Marie attends Denison University.
