April has worked as a counselor and counseling faculty for many years in a university counseling center and served for several years as the clinical director for a residential campus program. She is not only experienced at working with anxiety, depression, and PTSD, she also enjoys working with client concerns involving relationships, motivation, and identity. My name is Brittany Smith and I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I provide medication management services for varying mental health disorders. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, and many other mental health conditions. I graduated in 2020 from Walden University with my MSN degree. I've obtained an ADN degree in 2013, and a BSN degree in 2016 from Norfolk State University. I have over ten years of nursing experience and training in various medical settings as a registered nurse, including community, inpatient, and outpatient settings. Within my experience, I have been privileged to serve both Military while working ant Portsmouth Naval Hospital and Civilian individuals. I also have experience working with families. Additionally, my training has allowed me to work with children, adolescents, and adults. My previous roles providing mental healthcare have shaped me into the open and empathetic psychiatric provider I am today. My goal is to work collectively partnering with clients toward positive mental wellness. My passion is to assist them with improving their quality of life, family dynamics, or community dynamics. Burt Segal is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over thirty years of experience helping children, adolescents and adults successfully manage life's challenges. He provides individual, marital and family therapy for ages 4 to adult. Burt began his professional career working with children and adolescents at inpatient psychiatric hospitals. He was also Director of a Day Treatment Program for children. For the last 30 years he has been in an outpatient private practice setting. His specialties include ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and helping families manage difficulties associated with divorce. Burt has written three books: "Why Did You Do That?: Solving The Mysteries of Parenting", "Why Can't You Pay Attention!: Helping Children With ADHD Succeed and Excel" and "10 Ways to a Happier Life". He is a former contributing writer to "Military Spouse Magazine". He has conducted numerous seminars for parents, teachers and professionals regarding behavior problems in children, ADHD, Depression, Stress Management and Anxiety. Christie Van Pelt, LCSW, has over 25 years of experience as a clinical social worker/psychotherapist providing individual, family, play, and group therapy for children, adolescents, adults and families in several settings and with diverse populations, including a social services setting, substance abuse rehab, psychiatric hospital, juvenile detention facility, and outpatient in several locations. She has special training in child treatment, forensic psychology, trauma focused treatment, and EMDR. In her work with individuals and families she utilizes an integrative approach that includes humanistic, systemic, cognitive, and trauma focused therapies to help individuals overcome a range of psychological and emotional problems that include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, recovery from addictive behavior, and traumatic past experiences. Since that time he is currently providing clinical services to the armed services working with Navy, Army, and Marine Corps over the last 4 years providing individual and couples counseling to service members and their families.
