FlyWackers.com started out with just one, hand-tied fly. Quite literally "hand-tied". With all of the great fishing that Alaska has to offer, the local stores sell poor quality fishing flies. Made with natural fibers and lots of them which cause the fishing fly to mid-drift at best. This makes fishing for the Alaskan salmon very difficult since the fly cannot reach the fish in the faster moving water. A better fishing fly was born just using embroidery string and a 2-0 Gamakatsu hook. As with many first, the fly was primitive but it was also surprisingly very effective. These rudimentry fishing flies were catching Silver Salmon at Ship Creek in Anchorage, Anchor Point, Homer Spit and even doing well at a little known spot off of Cook's Inlet.
