Dawn, joined FVAH in 2009. She went to school to become a certified veterinary assistant. Since then, she has progressed to a veterinary technician, social media manager, and is a Fear Free Certified Professional. Her family has been bringing their pets to Fox Valley since it first opened in 1959. She has been bringing her own pets to FVAH for over 25 years. Since a little girl she knew she was meant to work with animals. Dawn lives with her husband and two fur children: Tyrion (munchkin cat), and Arya (lab mix puppy). In her free time she enjoys being in nature, hiking, photography, painting her nails and traveling.

Dr. Sherden began practicing at Fox Valley Animal Hospital after graduating from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. She is also a Fear Free Certified Professional. She not only cares for cats and dogs, but enjoys caring for small animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, and small rodents. Dr. Sherden is married to Ken, and has a daughter, Carissa. The rest of her family includes her 2 dogs, and 4 cats. As well as spending time with her family, she enjoys walking her dogs, gardening, playing piano, and teaching Awana at her church.

Dr. Chemelewski graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. His special interests include internal medicine, surgery, and diagnostics. His personal interests include photography, golf, skiing, and fitness. Their daughter, Kelsey, graduated medical school at Creighton University in 2015. She is currently a Pediatrician in Arizona.

Dr. Bertulis joined Fox Valley in June of 2021 after graduating from the University of Illinois. While in vet school, she worked extensively with wildlife rehabilitation and public education and carries over her knowledge of exotic animals into her work with pets of all types. Dr. Bertulis enjoys caring for dogs and cats as well as pocket pets, birds, and reptiles. Her free time is spent riding horses, drawing, and playing piano.

Dr. McCormick grew up in Crystal Lake. Her family has been coming to Fox Valley Animal Hospital since before she was born. She is thrilled to be working with her mentor, Dr. Chemelewski, and the amazing doctors and staff at FVAH. Dr. McCormick graduated from the University of Missouri in 2016 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Her special interests include preventative medicine and oncology. When she is not snuggling with her cat, Kenny, or playing with the family Golden Retrievers, Gibbs & Annabelle, she enjoys reading and cooking. We are delighted to have her as one of our doctors!

Janet joined FVAH in 2009 after retiring from a career with the US Postal Service. She has been a client of FVAH since moving to the Crystal Lake area in 1990. She has gone from vet assistant to purchasing agent/front desk assistant. Janet lives with her significant other, Tom, and their dog, Delaney. In her free time she loves to read, go on walks with her dog and catching up on her favorite tv shows.
