Jack has experience preparing trusts, wills, pre-marital agreements, and other estate planning documents for a range of clients, from high net worth individuals to those with modest estates. He assists clients with business succession planning and have experience preparing and implementing partnership agreements, operating agreements and buy-sell agreements. He also has significant experience in planning for individuals with special needs. Jack's fiduciary litigation practice includes will contests, constructive trust and other equity actions, declaratory judgment actions, trust modifications, guardianships, and fiduciary removal actions. He represents clients in all phases of litigation before state and federal courts in Maryland and has served as "first chair" trial and appellate counsel. He frequently presents on fiduciary litigation topics for the MSBA and other professional organizations. Jack received his law degree from the Washington and Lee University School of Law, cum laude, in May 2011, where he was a Burks Scholar Writing Fellow and a staff writer for the Washington and Lee Law Review. Following graduation from law school, Jack clerked for the Honorable Pamela J. White on the Circuit Court of Baltimore City. Jack earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wittenberg University, magna cum laude, in political science in May 2008. He is currently pursuing an Executive L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University, with an expected completion date of 2023. Jack was admitted to practice before the Maryland Court of Appeals in December 2011 and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland in 2017. Jon is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel ("ACTEC"), and a past Chair of the Estate and Trust Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association ("MSBA"). He is committed to improving the accessibility and equity of trust and estate law, and is actively involved in Maryland legislative matters. In that capacity, Jon has played a major role in the development of Maryland's elective share statute, the addition of exemption portability to the Maryland estate tax, the development of procedures for the remote execution of documents during the pandemic, and other aspects of the State's estate, trust, and taxations statutes.
