Ian Busch is an Energy Analyst at GEM. As an advocate for the client, he works with interdisciplinary design and construction teams to integrate green building and energy efficiency project goals. His collaborative, process-oriented approach in managing a project from start to finish is delivered through a process-oriented approach to fully integrate all stake holders' viewpoints in the planning and construction processes. This methodical approach ensures buildings comply with California building energy code standards for Title-24 and CALGreen programs. If a project goal is to deliver energy performance standards above the minimum code requirements he is also versed in a variety of other green building and energy efficiency programs. Kevin Gilleran is Founder and Principal of GEM. Active in the field over 30 years, his passion for green building and energy efficiency grew out of curiosity and a solutions-oriented approach to balancing the needs of people with the environment. His collaborative approach to green building and energy efficiency solutions is executed through a process-driven approach to guide a project from planning through completion. Kevin encourages teamwork and ongoing communication to deliver economically viable green solutions to meet client project goals. Under his leadership, GEM has successfully impacted thousands of affordable housing, residential and commercial projects. His comprehensive approach to quantitative analysis informs his thorough approach to bring the latest knowledge to the field. Providing ongoing communication with a projects multi-party team encourages cost-effective design and construction delivery processes. Serving as an objective third-party for a design and construction team he serves as a neutral party to lead support for facilitating a client's strategic vision through fruition. He also believes that everyone should have access to adequate housing. Housing programs at the local, state and federal levels have not adequately addressed the current housing shortfall. In California, sustainability and various energy efficiency programs, such as LEED certification or integration of other green features can increase scoring to make a project more competitive. He is experienced in competitive and non-competitive tax credit projects, successfully collaborating with project teams to deliver value-driven solutions to meet a client's project goals. Michael Tomita serves as an Energy Analyst at GEM. As an energy advocate he believes that design and construction delivery processes must adapt to create healthier living environments, and provide cost-effective energy efficiency solutions to help address the dangers a warming climate has on our living environments. He has extensive experience working on commercial and residential Title-24, CALGreen, HERS compliance measures, as well as a variety of other green building programs including LEED certification. He delivers the latest green building and energy efficiency solutions value-engineered to meet project goals early in the process. This collaborative approach to the planning and construction delivery processes maximizes the incorporation of value-engineered green features that promote energy efficiency goals on budget. He stays informed of the latest green building and energy efficiency solutions to provide all stakeholders of the planning and building process with the support needed to implement economically feasible green solutions. Sam Pierce

Sam serves as a Senior Project Manager at GEM. With over 25 years of experience his background in engineering and architecture provide the foundation for his skilled approach to green building and energy efficiency programs. He has served as the architectural project manager for major school projects providing planning and construction oversight of multi-disciplinary professional teams. He has provided retrofits to new public middle and elementary schools. Leading more than a dozen Municipal Climate Action Plans in Northern California, he targeted emission reductions more than 15% for each jurisdiction. This was sponsored by PG&E to provide comprehensive energy consumption documentation, energy cost and greenhouse gas analysis of historical utility data for Sonoma County municipalities. His work showed the progress that each jurisdiction made towards its stated greenhouse gas reduction goal. It also provided a financial analysis of energy efficiency projects to leverage funding opportunities for medium and long term energy efficiency projects. Sam believes in improving his community and the world around him. He has formally served on a number of formal public service offices, including as a Sebastopol City Council member, mayor of Sebastopol and several associated local and regional committees. Serving on a number of committees he addressed topics that included neighborhood development and city budget planning. Also serving as an active member on the Board of Directors at the Sonoma County Transportation Authority he helped pave the way forward for the development of the Sonoma County Comprehensive Transit Plan.
