GLOBAL DORPERS

The dream to establish a Dorper stud and a company in Australia able to import and export genetic material worldwide has come a long way. Leon van Niekerk and Jannie Koch were the initial planners in South Africa. In 2008 they teamed up with Kenoes and Cecile van Lill in Bourke, NSW to establish the company GLOBAL LIVESTOCK GENETICS (GLG) with its farming activity in Australia on the farm "Sonvanger" in Bourke. The main activity of the stud has moved to "Braodwater", 17km outside of Narrabri, NSW in 2011... GLG has strong links with the South African Dorper community. Leon, the director involved in genetic management, is working from Bloemfontein, South Africa, the home of the Dorper. Several well-known breeders are using the genetic material of the Dorsland Dorper stud, which is the main provider of genetic material to Global Livestock Genetics.
