Alan E. Haun, Ph.D. is the founder and Principal Investigator at Haun & Associates. Alan has nearly 40 years experience as a professional archaeologist and holds Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in anthropology specializing in Pacific prehistory and ethnography. He was an Affiliate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Hawai‘i-Hilo for three years and taught undergraduate courses in anthropology at the University of Oregon. Dr. Haun's past projects range from cultural resource management and planning to inventory surveys to major mitigation excavation programs. He has conducted projects throughout the Hawaiian Islands and on Majuro in the Marshall Islands, Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia, Babeldoab in the Republic of Palau, Honshu, Kyushu, and Okinawa in Japan, Diego Garcia in the British Indian Ocean Territory, the Territory of Guam, and Rota, Saipan, and Tinian in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands. He has a broad range of experience in all phases of cultural resources management, and a thorough knowledge of local, state, territorial, and federal historic preservation laws, guidelines, and procedures.
Dianne M. Berrigan, M.A. is a Project Director for Haun & Associates. She has more than 35 years of experience as an archaeologist and has worked for Haun & Associates for over a decade. She has a Master of Arts degree in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brock University. Dianne has worked extensively in the Hawaiian Islands and western United States, in Canada, Cyprus, and Tunisia. Her specialties include research, analysis, and the preparation of technical reports. She also functions as Haun & Associates' laboratory director and curation specialist.
Jack (Dave) Henry, B.Sc. is a Project Director for Haun & Associates. Dave has more than 25 years experience as an archaeologist and has worked for Haun & Associates since its inception. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Oregon State College and has worked extensively throughout the Hawaiian Islands and the western United States, on Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia, in Honshu and Okinawa in Japan, on Diego Garcia in the British Indian Ocean Territory, the Territory of Guam, and Rota, Saipan, and Tinian in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands. Dave is proficient in all aspects of field research, archival research, database management, AutoCAD drafting, and preparation of technical reports.
Juliana M. Vivona Kailihiwa, B.A. is a Project Supervisor for Haun & Associates with 15 years of archaeological experience. She has worked for Haun & Associates for nearly a decade and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California at Berkeley. Juliana has worked throughout the Hawaiian Islands and the United States, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. She has extensive knowledge of all phases of field work, supervises field crews, and assists in laboratory analyses. She specializes in human osteology, zooarchaeology, and fishbone identification and functions as Haun & Associates' faunal analyst.
Solomon H. Kailihiwa III, M.S. is a Project Supervisor for Haun & Associates with 15 years of archaeological experience. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Science degree in Geographic Information Science and Technology from the Spatial Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California. He has worked for Haun & Associates for 7 years. He has worked throughout the Hawaiian Islands and the western United States, on Wake Island, American Samoa, and in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. He specializes in cultural consultation, Hawaiian ethnography, cartography, GIS and geospatial analysis, artifact illustration, and photography.
