Aaron Patterson

INGENUITY Experience. Aaron Patterson, IEI's Vice President of Business Development (BD), has more than 15 years of A/E/C industry experience and is responsible for IEI's local and national business development strategy, working with its six offices to enhance client relationships, market growth and bottom-line performance. Mr. Patterson drives innovation and transformative thought leadership across the company, while further strengthening and cultivating the business development culture. He serves as the primary business development liaison between the leadership of IEI's respective regional operations and collaborates on capture strategy, project risk assessment, and coordination to build an even stronger organization for clients of the firm. Prior to his role leading business development, Mr. Patterson was the Design Group Manager at IEI's headquarters in Chicago, IL, where he applied his broad experience including design, project management, coordination, and quality assurances for all phases of project development - particularly for highway, local roadway, pedestrian facilities, traffic, and bridge design. Education. Mr. Patterson received a bachelor's degree in applied physics from Morehouse College, a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Columbia University and an MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Alex Kline

As the engineering leader of all IEI offices, Dustin Quincy, PE is not only responsible for establishing the guidelines but also promoting a culture of consistent excellence, quality control and best practices in the technical delivery of projects and services to the firm's clients. Dustin works closely with the engineering teams in all offices on the delivery of design, construction inspection and program management projects. INGENUITY Experience. Alex Kline brings over 10 years of civil engineering experience in the design and construction of roadway and transportation projects, in both rural and urban settings. In his tenure, he has partnered with the Indiana Department of Transportation and Indianapolis Department of Public Works on an array of projects from residential street rehabilitations to large Public Private Partnership transportation projects. Alex's varied projects have included the design of trails, interchanges, intersection layouts, bridges, and stormwater management systems. Education. Alex earned his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Involvement in the Community. Alex believes in community service. He volunteers with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and enjoys speaking to students about the endless opportunities that a career in Engineering can provide.

Antoinette Coates - CFO

INGENUITY Experience. Antoinette Coates has worked in many roles at Infrastructure Engineering Inc., since Michael Sutton purchased the firm in 1997. Prior to her current position as Chief Financial Officer, she has served as an administrative assistant, marketing coordinator, engineering technician, human resource manager and accountant. She is a member of the National Association for Black Accountants. Education. Antoinette holds a bachelor degree in accounting from Alabama State University and is a Certified Professional Accountant candidate. Involvement in Community. Antoinette has served on the board of Universal Agape Foundation, an organization that serves disadvantaged children and families.

Clarice Lyons-Davidson - CMO

With 25-plus years of experience in Marketing and Communications, Clarice serves as head of marketing for IEI to enhance the firm's visibility, role and relationships with new and existing client partners. She has also worked as the divisional head of marketing for a top-tier financial services firm. Professionally, she is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services where she earned the Certified Professional Services Marketer designation and the American Council of Engineering Companies. She is also a founding member of a Toastmasters International club. Education. Clarice earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from Boston College and both an MBA and MLIS from Dominican University. Involvement in Community. Clarice is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority whose ongoing mission includes service to all mankind, the NAACP, and her local church where she holds a leadership position and was honored as a Vision Keeper.

Dustin Quincy

Dustin works closely with the engineering teams in all offices on the delivery of design, construction inspection and program management projects. INGENUITY Experience. Dustin Quincy has 22 years of civil engineering experience in road, bridge, hydraulic and site design as well as construction inspection. He has provided extensive design and inspection services for the Indiana Department of Transportation. He has also completed road design projects for the Indianapolis Department of Public Works and for the Maryland counties of Montgomery and Anne Arundel, as well as the Maryland State Highway Authority. Projects have ranged from small site improvements to multi-billion dollar highway developments. Education. Dustin earned his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. Involvement in Community. Dustin's community services has included tutoring students in kindergarten through high school.

Jeffrey Pollack

INGENUITY Experience. Jeffrey Pollack is responsible for the management of construction inspection teams across all IEI offices. He has approximately 30 years of experience in construction and engineering consultation, half of them in project engineering and management, overseeing various transportation and infrastructure developments. He has worked in resident engineering transportation projects for the Illinois State Tollway, the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Chicago Department of Transportation and Cook County. Education. Jeff holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Kashif Khan - President

He is a past Committee Chairman of the Diversity Committee for the American Council of Engineering Companies of Indiana. Education. INGENUITY Experience. As IEI's Vice President, Illinois, Ken Smorynski oversees IEI's design, program management and construction inspection staff. Mr. Smorynski holds a Bachelor (BS) and Master of Science (MS)in Civil Engineering; and recently earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Ken is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers Association of Illinois and has volunteered as a soccer, baseball and basketball coach for many years.

Maike Rodriguez

In addition to the full-time staff located at our New Jersey office, the team has support from over 140 engineers and administrative staff in IEI's New York, Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, and Peoria, Illinois offices, most of whom are licensed Professional Engineers with expertise in civil, traffic, and structural design. INGENUITY Experience. Maike Rodriguez has nearly 20 years of transportation experience and is a licensed professional engineer in New York and New Jersey. He has managed and designed transportation projects from preliminary through final design and construction for the PANYNJ, NYCDDC, NYCEDC, NYCT, MTA, and NYC Parks. His experience includes highway/roadway design, stormwater management, drainage design and hydraulic analysis, and site design. Education. Maike earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University of New Jersey. Involvement in Community. Maike proudly led the design of a project that brought a major professional sports team to the heart of Brooklyn, resulting in thousands of affordable housing units and well-paying jobs for the community.

INGENUITY Experience. IEI President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Sutton is the team leader of Infrastructure Engineering Inc., which he purchased in 1997. He has gained extensive engineering experience on public and private projects of all sizes for local municipalities, federal agencies and foreign governments - leading IEI, working with professional consulting firms for 30 years and for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 10 years. He is past Director of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a founding member of the National Organization of Minority Engineers and a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies and other professional organizations. Education. Michael is a graduate of Northwestern University where he earned his Civil Engineering degree. Involvement in Community. Universal Agape, now the Infrastructure Engineering Foundation, was created by Michael to serve disadvantaged children and families. It's just one of many civic organizations that he has actively supported.

He is a former Director of Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) with more than 32 years of experience in public infrastructure. Working alongside Julius, who has been with the Detroit office since conception in September 2021, both employ IEI values of Integrity, Excellence, and Ingenuity to create solutions for our clients throughout Michigan. In his role as Project Manager, Julius Cousin III, PE is responsible for project delivery and managing client relationships. He joined IEI in 2013, and prior to heading to Detroit, was involved in the delivery of both design and inspection projects in Chicago. INGENUITY Experience. Paul Ajegba's engineering career started in the private sector of the infrastructure industry and was followed by more than 32 years with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). In January 2019, Michigan Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, appointed Paul as Director of MDOT, where he provided leadership, strategy, and direction of the Department's $5 billion transportation program. Paul's appointment coincided with the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Even under those extreme circumstances, Paul met the goals of Governor Whitmer's transportation program, demonstrating his commitment to Michigan and his ability to lead in any situation. Following four years as the Director of MDOT, Paul joined IEI. In his role, he leads planning for the firm's national corporate growth strategy and development of the Strategic Business Plan. He also oversees operations and business development in IEI's Detroit, Michigan office. Paul is an asset to the future success of IEI's clients and partners. Paul's career trajectory includes the design and construction of complex projects pertaining to highways, bridges, transit, aviation, and marine and port activities. He is known for the launch of Michigan's first Flex Route, an innovative design that allows for travel on the left-hand shoulder of the southbound side of a highway during morning rush hour and northbound side during evening rush hour. Education. Paul has received his Master of Science in Construction Engineering from the University of Michigan and his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Prairie View A&M University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Involvement in the Community. Paul is active in many professional organizations that demonstrate his dedication to his civil engineering profession and his commitment to creating impactful infrastructure. He has served as Chair of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Friends Association with Michigan University and is a proud member of the Engineering Society of Detroit where he enjoys helping minorities achieve their professional growth goals. Paul has been instrumental in developing internships and full-time employment opportunities for HBCU engineering students.

Sonya Jordan - CHRO

INGENUITY Experience: Sonya joined IEI March 2022 in the role of Senior HR Generalist and assumed the Deputy Human Resources Director role in August where she proved her capabilities to lead the department. With nearly 23 years of experience, Sonya leads the Human Resources segment of the firm's national strategy, while managing IEI's essential HR functions, including planning and administration, recruitment, performance management, and growth and organizational development. Education: Sonya earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Social Science from Governor's State University, she has a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification and she completed the Professional in Human Resources Program with DePaul University. Involvement in Community: Sonya is a volunteer at the Greater Chicago Food Depository Volunteer Speaker's Bureau as a public speaker for events educating the participants about food insecurities and food deserts as well as utilization of services through food pantries. She is an ambassador for GCFD, volunteering in packing food for distribution to food pantries, preparing meals, and passing out food dentations within the Chicagoland community. Sonya is also a SCORE Chicago mentor for new businesses and entrepreneurs and periodically serves as a trainer for workshops and seminars on human resources related topics. She is on the Board of Directors for House of Restoration, a social service agency specializing in programs and services that assist and support families.
