Billy Rideout, President of Exergy Solutions, is a Chemical Engineer who graduated from the University of New Brunswick. He is registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA and certified PMP from the PMI institute.

Colin Merrick

Heather Scott P. - CEO

When Heather Scott started working in oil and gas engineering in the 1980s, she heard more than once that women didn't belong in the field. But she didn't listen. Instead, she went on to build a successful 35-year career and spent a lot of time helping younger women - and men - grow in the field. Heather is currently CEO and an owner of Nexxa Industries Ltd, applying her extensive experience to a different industry - manufacturing. Nexxa is a precision machine shop that specializes in CNC turning, milling, waterjet and engraving services to a range of customers across multiple industries and consumer goods. She is leading a strategic growth initiative to expand Nexxa's customer base and manufactured products. Previously, Heather has held Executive and Senior Management positions at PetroChina Canada/Brion Energy, Suncor and Petro-Canada. Her roles encompassed all aspects of the upstream oil and gas value chain from the fundamental engineering to project development, commodity marketing, strategic planning, operations, technology as well as Executive responsibility for the business P&L. As for her passions - Heather has driven safety, environmental performance, stakeholder engagement and technology development as critical elements of sustainable and responsible business. In addition, she has been involved in many organizations that encourage girls to pursue STEM careers. Heather is registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA, and previously held a number of Director/Executive/Advisory roles with Insitu Oil Sands Alliance (IOSA), Canadian Heavy Oil Association (CHOA), Canadian Association Petroleum Producers' (CAPP) Executive Policy Groups, CanWest Gas Supply and the Association of Women Engineers. She attended John Abbott CEGEP in Montreal, and then obtained her Bachelor of Applied Science degree majoring in chemical engineering from the University of Waterloo. Heather relocated to Calgary for work and is happily married with two fantastic daughters.

Joel Viccars

Joel Viccars graduated with a Master of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Calgary. His graduate research focused on the synthesis of liquid crystalline chromophores for application in the next-generation photovoltaics (organic solar cells). While working as a TA for the undergraduate general and organic chemistry laboratory, Joel received a student-nominated teaching excellence award. With over five years of experience in the service side of the petroleum industry, Joel is familiar with chemical innovations utilized in hydraulic fracturing and coiled tubing operations including friction reducers, crosslinked gels, surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, clay controls and biocides. As a trained quality control professional, Joel has oil and gas industry field experience as it relates to hydraulic fracturing. For extracurricular activities, Joel is always doing something to elevate his heart rate. If he is not running, biking or working out, he is playing hockey, working on his squash game, making his way to the mountains to snowboard, or playing with his dog.

For nearly 25 years, Laura she has enabled organizations to streamline operations and effectively build relationships with stakeholders. This has translated into timely capital projects, well-received acquisitions, smart change initiatives, well-mitigated reputational crises, and successful leadership transitions. Laura Lunt is a Principal in a consulting firm providing strategic advice and ESG framework support to a range of industries. Previously, she served as VP Oilsands and Heavy Oil, including pipelines and terminals, at Pembina Pipeline, a major TSX listed company. As an executive Laura provided strategic direction, leadership, and held profit and loss responsibility for Oilsands and Heavy Oil functions and External Affairs. She has championed transformation and enhanced performance through several senior leader positions within the Energy sector and Board/Advisory positions.

Mark Taylor

Mark Taylor has almost 35 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, the regulatory space and government policy development. Prior to forming Taylor Energy Advisors Mark was the Executive Vice President of the Operations Division at the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). Prior to this Mark was senior vice president of Climate Policy Assurance at the AER and also had roles as the vice president of the Closure & Liability Branch and the vice president of the Industry Operations Branch. In these roles Mark led collaboration with regulators across Canada and around the world in developing methane regulations, enabling creation of the Area Based Closure Program and implementation of the One Stop platform. Mark also led teams that worked with the World Energy Congress and countries including Mexico, Columbia, Ukraine and Argentina to develop new national regulators or regulations for unconventional development and methane reduction. Mark graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to joining the AER Mark worked in field and office roles for Amoco, Alberta Energy Company and Encana. Mark has led teams responsible for the early development of unconventional oil and gas resources in western Canada. These include Horseshoe Canyon coalbed methane, Horn River shale, Montney gas, and Cardium oil. Mr. Taylor has served on the board of directors for the Canadian Society for Unconventional Resources and as the chair of both the stakeholder engagement committee and the regulatory committee with this organization. Mark has been engaged firsthand with stakeholders in developing strategies that allow for the appropriate and continued development of western Canada's resource plays.

Patrick Dwyer

Patrick Dwyer is a graduate from the University of Calgary Department of Chemistry. His undergraduate honors project and master's studies focused on synthesizing novel inorganic-organic materials for gas capture and separation which he helped co-author a scientific paper with his research group. During his studies, he has presented at Canadian Society of Chemistry (CSC) and Carbon Capture Initiative (CCI) conferences with his work. He has also worked as a research consultant for a technology startup developing, characterizing, and deploying nanomaterial biomarkers. As a research associate at Isotopes Canada, Patrick is helping by utilizing his experience as a chemist to communicate to clients the advantages of our tracer technologies as well helping as required in the lab and field. When Patrick is outside the lab, he enjoys spending his time in the mountains, climbing, biking, skiing, and volunteering.
