ALAN OFSOSKI

  • Mechanical Engineering and Projects Manager
Alan oversees the MEL Mechanical Engineering, Design and Projects groups. He brings over 30 years of heavy industrial Engineering, Project Management and Asset Management to MEL. Alan has significant leadership experience gained working as a Manager and Project Manager in various organisations. Alan has experience in Wood Processing, Power Generation and various Process Engineering Industries. With his Project Management focus he understands the importance of clear communication and a structured approach. He is responsible for delivery of fit for purpose engineering solutions that exceed our customers' expectations.

CHRIS POWER - CEO

Job Titles:
  • CEO
Chris leads the MEL team and believes that people are the most important company asset. He has over 25 years' experience in the New Zealand Energy Sector and holds tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Electrical), Management and Law. Chris is responsible for all MEL operations, ensuring consistency of service, quality, safety and value, along with the well-being of the MEL team. Chris's career has an extensive background leading customer facing teams. As such he is keenly focused on making sure that MEL provides quality engineering and safety services that meet our customer's needs, and are delivered on time and within budget. Chris is well experienced with progressing business cases, business analysis, corporate communications and reporting to boards of directors.

COLIN BROWN

Job Titles:
  • South Island Area Manager
Colin heads up the MEL South Island team based in Nelson and Christchurch. He is a qualified Mechanical Engineer with 30 years engineering design and project management experience predominantly in the mining and materials handling sectors. Colin has excellent technical knowledge, enthusiasm and drive for success that allows MEL to provide superior service to our clients. Colin's customer-focused passion assures regular committed service to cement MEL as a long term industrial engineering resource, delivering MEL's capabilities into the South Island.

DARRIN HAWKES

Job Titles:
  • Engineering Director
Darrin is both an accomplished, qualified, professional mechanical engineer, and a time served boilermaker/welder tradesman. He has over 30 years combined fabrication, engineering and design experience, making him a versatile and analytically flexible member of the MEL team. He has a unique talent for visualising problems and working with a team to develop solution options. This combined with a wide range of both practical construction and maintenance experience and analytical engineering knowledge, means Darrin adds value to any project. Whether climbing into dirty confined spaces to inspect plant or presenting the conclusions of technical analysis to clients, Darrin is motivated and driven to deliver successful results and exceed expectations.

DIANNE HAWKES

Job Titles:
  • Business Services Manager
Dianne leads the MEL business services team who deliver both internal and external financial and administrative support. She has over 30 years of accounting and business systems development experience in banking, logistics, manufacturing, the public service and private consulting. Dianne has a passion for setting up business systems. Integrating seamlessly into any team, she identifies where gaps may exist and implements solutions to avoid disruption. Highly skilled with spreadsheets and various financial software applications, she has a particular eye and skill for extracting, analysing and presenting financial information for project and business lead teams. Dianne has strong family and friendship values, bringing a more personal dynamic into the MEL lead team. With a strong commitment to work-life balance, she demonstrates how it is possible to achieve professional career success while managing to raise a family and enjoy her passion for scuba diving, horse-riding, motorcycling and travel.

GREG BROWN

Job Titles:
  • Business Development Manager
Greg oversees business development, customer relationship management and sales & marketing for MEL. He has a degree in Chemical & Materials Engineering and an extensive background in process engineering, technical support, production management and sales. His experience is predominantly in Pulp and Paper working in New Zealand, Australia, China, Canada and USA. Greg has spent much of his career in customer focused roles and understands their needs. He enjoys the process of working with customers to help them succeed. Greg's role is to expand MEL's business and customer focus

JOHN BAZLEY

Job Titles:
  • Electrical and Instrumentation Team Manager
John heads up the MEL Electrical & Instrumentation team and comes from a consultancy based project management and team leadership environment. He brings more than 30 years' experience in world-wide multi-discipline project delivery and team leadership. This experience has been gained across Pulp and Paper, Geothermal, Mining and metals, Oil sands, Nuclear reprocessing / decommissioning. Petro Chemical, Water and waste, Food and beverage, Oil and gas and Pharmaceuticals. John also has strong engineering, construction and technical knowledge with the ability to deliver all phases of multi-discipline projects and possesses the necessary people and coaching skills to help the wider team implement change, generate significant time savings in the engineering and construction program and reduce direct and indirect project costs. His experience and knowledge are merged with a client focused and results driven approach, combined with a strong emphasis on health and safety and quality of service, John strives for quality, consistency and the delivery of fit for purpose solutions to our clients.
