Cecilia Babb

Ms Babb, an Associate of MHC, is a Gender Activist with 30+ year of activism in the field of Gender and Development. Her professional experience spans policy analysis, policy formulation, formal and non-formal lecturing and training, design of educational materials, research and advocacy. Her published chapters are on women's political leadership, violence against women, and women's economic security. Consultancy clients have included: Commonwealth Secretariat, UN Women (UNIFEM) Caribbean Office, OECS Commission (Secretariat), Caribbean Development Bank, Bureau of Women's Affairs - Commonwealth of Dominica, Bureau of Gender Affairs - Barbados, and Institute (Center) for Gender and Development, UWI Cave Hill Campus. In 2012 she completed a Gender Analysis of 5 OECS Poverty Assessments (UN WOMEN Caribbean). She has completed a Gender Policy and Action Plan OECS Commission (Secretariat), and served as Lead Consultant, Barbados National Policy on Gender (BGA Barbados) and Gender Specialist, IMPACT Justice Project, Law Institute, UWI Cave Hill.

Henderson B. Holmes

Henderson Holmes is a graduate of the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies, with a BSc (Honours) degree in Industrial Management. He was also trained in consulting for small and medium-sized business development and is a Fellow of International Management Centres Association (FIMCA). After a stint in the Barbados Civil Service where he left in the position of Senior Auditor in the Auditor General's Department, he was involved in economic development planning and administration for over 20 years during which time he held a number of positions within the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) culminating with that of Director of their New York Office. Since leaving the BIDC in 1999 he held the position of Managing Director of a Barbadian subsidiary of a US data management company. From 2001 he worked as a consultant in the region. Among the projects he completed in this capacity was a World Bank-Funded project executed by the Caricom Secretariat, where he was responsible for doing investment climate studies of Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados. He was also the sole consultant hired by the National Development Corporation of Dominica, to study the economic development landscape in that country and advise on the approach the country should take to expand its information and communications technology sector. Prior to taking up his current position of Executive Director of the Barbados International Business Association, he had returned to the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation for two (2) years as a consultant responsible for developing and executing programmes to expand the international business sector in Barbados. In this role he was responsible for the planning and staging of the very successful Barbados International Financial Services Conference 2003, which attracted participation from North America, Europe and the Caribbean. As a member of the May Hinds Consulting team since 2002, he assumes leadership in the delivery of strategic planning and inventory management and control assignments, but plays an invaluable analytical and quality assurance role on most other projects.

Jeremy Stephen

Jeremy Stephen is a trained business and financial consultant who assists business entities with their business and financial planning strategies. A former economist at the Central Bank of Barbados, he graduated with a BSc. Economics (First Class Honours) from University of the West Indies - Cave Hill Campus (UWI), where he received the prestigious Charles M. Kennedy Prize for academic excellence in Economics. A former Commonwealth Scholarship winner in 2006, he completed his MSc. Finance degree from Imperial College Business School in 2007. He began his freelance career in January 2009 with the intention of providing his services to funding agencies, financial companies and subcontracted regional projects from firms such as CBET Inc, BBEC and the CSME. Jeremy founded Damoola Inc afterwards to tackle a business interests ranging from asset and portfolio management and investments to quantitative and qualitative research. His core specialisation is in financial and economic modeling along with web development; and financial training along with financial and business advisory services. These skills were initially honed during his stints at the Central Bank of Barbados - where he was responsible for maintaining the Bank's economic and financial forecasting model - and his highly quantitative Master's programme at Imperial College London. He is also a part-time lecturer at UWI Cave Hill in the Economics Department specializing in financial economics and technology. Jeremy is currently the President of the Barbados Economics Society and stands ready to participate in economic, business and financial seminars and conferences. Jeremy's day-to-day responsibilities, through Damoola Inc., include internal corporate advisory, management of the internal and external financial monitoring system, financial due diligence, and fund raising. He has provided financial consultancy, business advisory services to the Nation Corporation Inc, the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC), the Barbados Agricultural Development and Management Corporation (BADMC), Invest Caribbean Now, Alpha Banco de Inversion, and The Craane Group (Merril Lynch) amongst others. He also partners with several consultancy firms, such as May Hinds Consulting and Samdor Services Inc. in the areas of finance and business anaylsis and web technologies. An avid basketballer and football fan, Jeremy's interests also lie in charitable causes and a passion for sustainable economic growth through healthcare, alternative energy, agriculture and tourism, He is now a member of UNDP's Small Grants Program Steering Committee.

Karen Philip

Karen Philip is a graduate of the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies, with a BSc degree in Social Work. She is also trained in Mediation, Accounting and Business and Computer Technology. From 2004 she has worked both in Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. Among the position she held was as a member of the team at Market Facts & Opinions (2001) Limited, where she was responsible for assisting with supervising and conducting field research in the private sector including planning focus groups, conducting telephone interviews and other research methodologies. Ms Philip has acted as a consultant on a number of research based actions with the firm RMJG & Associates and this has included a number of organizational reviews of national level Business Support Organisations and Non-Profit Organisations. In this capacity, she has supported the design of research processes and conducted numerous interviews with assignment stakeholders in addition to implementing questionnaire instruments. Ms. Philip also has notable experience undertaking statistical analysis and reporting formulation.

Kim Bascombe

Kim is a trained and qualified event manager and part time senior lecture at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus, with over ten (10) years experience in the of corporate events industry. Her experience includes the strategic planning and execution of conferences, summits, trade shows and other corporate hospitality events within the Caribbean, the United States and the United Kingdom. She was ushered into the event industry in 1994 where she participated on the first international Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) conference held in Barbados. In that same year she also worked with the National Cultural Foundation under the direction of the then Music Officer David Jordan in the staging of the Opening Gala, Kiddies Kadooment and Party Monarch events respectively. By 2000, Kim had been exposed to various aspects of logistics planning, crowd control, stage management, human resource management and fiscal prudence in the execution of events for well known event management companies Premier Event Services and the off shore event management company of Marcus Evans. In 2003, Kim completed a Masters Degree in Event Management just in time to take on a lead role in managing one of the four commercial host rights granted to the WICB in the hosting of the ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007.As the Commercial Project Officer she was responsible for developing the master plan to be rolled out across the nine host countries at the twelve participating venues. As Commercial project officer for Catering Vending & Concessions she was responsible for recruiting the events Official Caterer and working alongside the event official food and beverage sponsors - Pepsi. Following the two year assignment on this project, Kim was invited to write and deliver the Event Management course in 2008 as part of the Tourism & Hospitality Masters Programme for the University of the West Indies Mona. Kim continues to deliver this course by distance to students at the Mona campus.

Ms. Kim Tudor

Ms. Kim Tudor has spent most of her career in the field of Organisational Development. She currently specialises in upgrading organisations' proficiency in the areas of service excellence, quality management and strategic planning. She was the first CEO of the National Initiative for Service Excellence (NISE), responsible for leading the charge in Barbados in creating a national culture focused on delivering a world-class level of service. Before taking up this post, she was Corporate Services Director at the Centre for Management Development now Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management (CHSB). Ms. Tudor serves as a part-time lecturer with the CHSB and the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP). Ms Tudor is a Charter Professional Accountant/ Certified Management Accountant, who holds an MBA from Syracuse University and a B.Sc. from the University of the West Indies. She is also a Certified Manager of Quality/Organisational Excellence and has completed leadership programmes at Harvard Business School.

Richard Jones

Richard Jones is a management consultant with a specialty of providing management services to the development sector in the Caribbean. He is a graduate of the University of the West Indies holds both a BSc. Sociology and Politics and a Masters in Project Management and Evaluation. He previously worked with the Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) for 15 years and has consulted with national, regional and international organizations. Richard specializes in capacity building and institutional strengthening of development organizations. More specifically, his areas of expertise include development research, strategic planning, operational planning, resource mobilization, programme development, proposal writing and organizational streamlining; his consultancy experience includes working on assignments funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers (France and London), British Department for International Development, Government of Barbados and the UN system. Mr. Jones has lectured at the University of the West Indies, Open Campus and has sat on Boards providing policy direction in the private, public and non-profit sector.

Roger LeFrancois

Our main international associate is Roger Lefrancois. He specializes in tourism planning, design and implementation of tourism projects, with a basis in consultation, market analysis, business planning, and sustainability. Roger founded his own consulting company, HLA Consultants, in 1977 and has operated it since. He has undertaken numerous national and international consulting assignments. He has considerable experience in tourism planning, with a strong emphasis on awareness and implementation. He has designed and managed the preparation of tourism master development plans for large regions, product development plans, market studies, and financial analyses for specific projects. He has a very good knowledge of tourism markets and visitor preferences for a wide variety of experiences, regions and countries. At a business level, he focuses on the factors necessary to develop a viable tourism industry nationally, and on the factors which recognize sustainable environmental, social and economic objectives. He has consulted at micro levels to communities, corporations and at macro levels to countries, on preferred directions and positioning for product development and enhancement. Much of his work recognizes principles of biological and cultural diversity. Some of the challenges he often addresses include: • the integration of communities with the built and natural resources in the planning of tourism experiences • ensuring the communities benefit, in as broad a sense as possible • planning so the investments and operations are financially sustainable • identifying and providing direction for the "champions" to make the entire project work • ensuring the environment resources are sustained and enhanced, where possible • ensuring the integrity of the traditional cultures are maintained • not least, enabling for the communities to be integral to the plan and projects. Since 1985 Roger has worked extensively internationally, with a strong focus in the countries of the Caribbean islands, Central America, and South America. He also completed an assignment in Saudi Arabia in 2002 and Gabon, Africa in 2004. In his work, he has traveled extensively through the Caribbean region, working with government, industry, and the people.

Yvette Browne

Yvette Browne has more than twenty years' experience in the fields of Human Resources management (HR) Industrial Relations (IR) and organizational development (OD). She has provided leadership as head of HR at the Almond Beach Club, the Royal Westmorland Golf, Resort and Real Estate Development, the Grantley Adams International Airport Inc. and the Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados. Her involvement as project leader in the Airport Service Quality programme, led to the Grantley Adams International Airport receiving "Best Airport Awards" for 2009/2010. Yvette is a past President of the Human Resources Management of Barbados and the conference Chair for several years. Yvette is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, holding a BSc. Applied Sociology. She is also a graduate of the New School for Social Research where she obtained a MSc. Human Resources Management and post graduate diplomas in Training and Development and Organizational Development. Yvette is fully trained in Alternative Dispute Resolution and is Talent + and Myers Briggs Type Indicator Certified. Yvette has tutored at the University of the West Indies for over 10 years. She currently offers her services as a consultant in the above mention areas as well as lectures on-line courses for the Cave Hill School of Business.
