Brad has worked for McGill & Associates Engineering Ltd. since he graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Applied Science. He has been a member of Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia since 1992. In 2013, he and Mike Lange purchased the company from its founder, Alan McGill. With nearly twenty years as a Professional Engineer in the Civil and Structural disciplines, Brad has gained a well rounded level of experience on public , private, and industrial projects. During this time, he has learned the importance of understanding the needs of his clients and has strived to meet their objectives with well designed and innovative engineering solutions. Brad specializes in wood frame and timber engineering along with stormwater management and water treatment/conveyance. Having grown up in the Alberni Valley, Brad returned to his hometown after studying at UBC to begin his career and to start a family. Brad and his wife Brenda have two daughters and, as a family, they enjoy the West Coast lifestyle of Port Alberni. Brad's interests include hockey, kayaking, and camping.

Brodie has a degree in Civil Engineering that he completed at the University of British Columbia in 2019 and is currently an EIT. He was born and raised in Kelowna but has worked throughout the province in places like Vancouver, Penticton, Burnaby, Tofino and now Port Alberni. Brodie started his career in general contracting, supporting the construction of large civil infrastructure such as wastewater treatment plants, power transformer stations, water treatment plants and water reservoirs. He has additional experience in project management, asset management, municipal engineering, water supply, oil and gas regulation, and dam safety and integrity. Brodie is passionate about engineering practices and looks to gain skills in consulting and design until achieving his professional engineering designation. In his spare time, Brodie enjoys playing sports and spending time outdoors, specifically football, rugby, biking, hiking, water sports and personal fitness. He enjoys working in his yard and spending time with his partner Sophia and their two cats.

Read more... Chelsea Spencer is one of our friendly voices over the phone, and friendly faces behind our front desk. She started working at McGill and Associates Engineering in October 2017 as a temporary administrative assistant before she stepped into a full time role and works alongside the rest of our team. Chelsea was raised in Port Alberni where she met her husband Shaun, and will continue to stay here to raise their daughter. She enjoys everything the West Coast has to offer including the gorgeous lakes, forestry, and wild life. With these loves also comes a passion for camping, being outside exploring new terrain, as well as friends and family gatherings.

Chris graduated from the Civil/Municipal Drafting program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1999 and has since worked extensively with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Chris has provided his drafting skills for many disciplines of engineering including Structural, Civil and Geotechnical, as well as completed topographic surveys. Chris began his career with McGill & Associates Engineering Ltd. in 2003 and worked here for close to five years. He then moved on to gain further experience with different engineering firms and municipalities before returning to McGill & Associates Engineering Ltd. to continue his career in 2013. Chris grew up in the Alberni Valley and is now looking forward to sharing this experience with his wife and two children.

Jadon graduated from the BCIT Civil/Structural Engineering Technologist program in 2008. He worked for McGill & Associates Engineering after graduation until 2011 before moving on to a local civil contractor as a project manager to gain more experience in construction. Jadon has also ran a residential construction company starting in 2017 as a licensed builder through BC Housing. Jadon was born and raised in the Alberni Valley where he continues to live with his three children. On his own time, Jadon plays/coaches soccer and enjoys experiencing all the outdoor activities the West Coast has to offer with his family.

Mike graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Applied Science in 2005 and has been a member of Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia since then. In 2013, Mike, along with Brad West, purchased the company from its founder, Alan McGill. Mike worked for several years in Vancouver as a Building Envelope Consultant before realizing that he wanted to pursue land development and municipal engineering. He then worked for several years as a project manager in Victoria where he gained extensive experience in the fields before moving back to Port Alberni to start his family and further his career. Mike has worked for McGill & Associates Engineering Ltd. for over ten years and has applied his expertise to many challenging subdivision, water, sewer, and stormwater management projects. On his own time, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids. Mike also enjoys fishing, camping, and playing sports.

Todd was born and raised in Port Alberni and has had the chance to work both on and off the Island. Todd was part of the McGill Team as a rodman back in 1993-1998 before moving on for new experience. Since then, he has completed work for legal land surveying, run of the river projects, and most recently spent three years at Site C in Fort Saint John. Todd saw the opportunity to come home and work with McGill and is excited to rejoin the team. Todd enjoys the natural surroundings of the West Coast, and spends his free time by quading, camping, and much else in the great outdoors.
