MCKELLAR CATTLE

The McKellar family started in the registered cattle business in 1960 near Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Since then we have been involved in multiple breeds. In 2002, we decided as a family to focus solely on Black Angus genetics. Our initial purchase of 425 weaned heifers exclusively from Connealy Angus, between 2002 and 2005, formed the base of what our cow herd is today. These females were bred to breed leading A.I. sires, adapted very well to Northeast Texas and are very efficient mother cows even with the hotter, more humid climate... In 2006, we began an aggressive embryo transfer program, focusing on top cow families within our operation. These efforts were further intensified from 2009 through 2012 and again in 2015 & 2016 with the addition of more donor cows from Connealy Angus, Whitman, NE. Today our core donor program is made up of daughters and grand daughters of these foundational females... Our mission continues to be to use all the tools available to produce the highest quality..
