The McLean Foundation is led by the passion and commitment of its volunteer directors, officers and a small staff team... The McLean Foundation was established in 1945 by James Stanley (J.S.) McLean and is one of the oldest private family foundations in Canada. J.S. and his wife, Edith, were avid supporters of numerous charitable causes, particularly in the areas of social welfare, education, environmental conservation and the arts. They were also avid art collectors, most notably of works by the Group of Seven and other Canadian artists such as Tom Thomson, David Milne and Emily Carr... The McLean Foundation acknowledges that we are based on the traditional territories of many nations. We are based in the treaty territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the traditional territory of Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Wendat peoples. The meeting place of Tkaronto (Toronto) continues to be home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to work together..
