Alysa Castro

Alysa Castro joined the firm as an associate in 2019. Alysa has extensive experience practicing civil litigation in both Oregon and Pennsylvania, where she has represented a variety of clients in matters ranging from transactions to complex litigation. Alysa graduated with honors from Rutgers School of Law in 2012, where she served as a Marshal Brennan Fellow and Notes Editor for the Rutgers Journal of Law and Public Policy. She was also the recipient of the Mary Philbrook Public Interest Award and the Helen Levine Cohen Award. After graduating from law school, Alysa completed a judicial clerkship for Justice Ariel Rodriguez with the Supreme Court of New Jersey prior to joining private practice. Prior to law school, Alysa completed a Master of Arts in English from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Oregon, receiving both degrees with honors. She is the author of Better in Theory: The Road to Prostitution Reform in Pennsylvania, which was published in the Rutgers Journal of Law and Public Policy in 2012. Betsy Larson

Betsy joined our firm in 2008 as the office administrator. She oversees the management of the firm including its finances, facilities and human resources. Betsy is also responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations including client billing, payables, receivables and budgets. Education: B.S. Portland State University, 1982

Janelle Chorzempa

Practice Areas Legal Services for Design Professionals Janelle Chorzempa has joined our founding partner, Jim Marvin, in retirement and is no longer a practicing attorney. The other attorneys at MC&L will happily assist you with any of the services Janelle has provided in the past. Janelle was a registered architect in the State of Oregon for 34 years, and an attorney whose practice focused on design and construction law, and products liability. Janelle handled contract negotiation and litigation, personal injury, estate planning, and business law matters for the firm's architecture and design clients. Prior to attending law school, Janelle worked on architectural projects in Germany, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington, and Colorado. Her experience included residential, commercial, educational, and governmental design and construction, including managing a major expansion for the Portland Public School District. Janelle taught technical and design courses at Portland State University and University of Oregon. Similarly, she provided seminars for the firm's business clients, for AIA of Oregon, and for law practitioners who focus on construction law. Janelle was also a contributing author to the "Oregon-Architect/Engineer Liability and Agreements" chapter of the Oregon State Bar's Construction Law book.

Jon Larson

Jon Larson has been practicing law since 1989. Since joining the firm in 1999, Jon has represented individuals and businesses in a variety of civil litigation matters, with particular emphasis on representing design professionals in construction defect litigation and working on matters related to the construction industry. Jon represents clients throughout the Northwest in federal and state courts, and in private mediations and arbitrations. His practice involves a variety of matters, including complex litigation, with multi-million dollar claims. Representative construction defect matters include claims for water intrusion at multifamily developments, improper structural design in residential and commercial projects, including roadways and bridges. Further, Jon's practice includes contract drafting and negotiations, product liability, estate planning, and business law matters for the firm's architecture and design clients. Jon Larson is also an active participant in the Portland community. He is frequently called upon to share his expertise with attorneys and other professionals, and has presented continuing education seminars on numerous areas of law pertaining to the design and construction industry. Jon is also a member of the Legislative Committee of the American Council of Engineering Companies (Oregon) and assists in analyzing and drafting bills as well as advocating in the State legislature for the design community. Shelley Inglis

Shelley Inglis joined our team in 2006. She has over 25 year of experience as a legal assistant in Oregon. Shelley's most enjoyable responsibility is being the first point of contact for our clients by greeting them on the phone or in person. Her duties as a legal assistant keep her busy drafting pleadings, contracts, agreements and estate planning. Shelley also handles a variety of administrative matters for the firm including billing, and general firm organization.
