Kevin McGinty is the founder and Principal of McGinty Consulting, Inc. He has prepared closely held business appraisals for over twenty (20) years, and has performed valuation analyses in a variety of settings including: merger and acquisition appraisals; post acquisition purchase price appraisals; valuations of intangible assets such as software and related technologies; patented products processes and technologies; trademarks, trade names, customer lists and non-compete agreements; business appraisals for corporations, partnerships, associations and proprietorships for estate and gift planning, for insurance planning, for income tax planning, and in the dispute resolution process; appraisals for ESOP compliance purposes; and forensic valuation analyses. He has also prepared a substantial number of valuation opinions regarding the proper valuation discounts to be applied in various settings, including the use of family limited partnerships and limited liability companies. Mr. McGinty has performed business and stock appraisals in numerous industries including: accounting and consulting, advertising, sale and distribution of aggregate and related construction products, appraisal, automobile dealerships, automotive parts and accessories retailers, bottling and beverage distribution, cement and concrete products, computer services and software, construction and contracting, distribution, education, energy exploration, development and distribution businesses, e-commerce based businesses, entertainment enterprises including amusement parks and golf courses, fast food, food service, forest products, genetic screening, health care, hotel and hospitality, insurance, manufacturing businesses including industrial generators and motors, glass products, medical data bases, plastic products, powdered metal products, railroad equipment, steel production, steel and metal fabrication, medical and dental practices, mining and mineral extraction and exploration, pharmaceuticals, professional practices including medical, dental, psychology, engineering, architectural and legal practices, radio and television broadcasting, real estate development, restaurants, retailing, scrap dealers, securities brokerage and investment advisory businesses, professional sports franchises, software design and engineering, steel, transportation and trucking, travel industry, vocational training, and wholesaling and distribution businesses. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE Prior to founding McGinty Consulting, Inc. in 1996, Mr. McGinty was a principal with Kaplan Sipos & Associates, a regional accounting firm located in Pittsburgh, PA. He was responsible for the preparation and issuance of business valuation reports and opinions both for tax and business planning and litigation support purposes. He held this position for three (3) years. Prior to joining Kaplan Sipos, Mr. McGinty was a Senior Manager in the Pittsburgh office of Deloitte & Touche, formerly Touche Ross & Company. He was a member of the firm's tax consulting group for seven (7) years, and was primarily responsible for estate planning and business valuation engagements. Mr. McGinty has published numerous articles in accounting, insurance and legal periodicals regarding the valuation of closely held businesses. He has lectured frequently to a wide variety of industry groups, and has taught as a guest lecturer at the Duquesne University School of Law and the Robert Morris College School of Business. He has also taught continuing education courses regarding the valuation of closely held businesses for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
