David P. Jones

Dr. Jones has practiced as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist and human resources consultant for over 30 years. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of Talent Technology Corporation, an HR software technology company, where he heads human resources consulting activities related to employment selection procedure design, implementation and legal compliance. He also serves as President of Growth Ventures Inc., a firm providing counsel to senior management in talent acquisition and legal compliance. Prior to founding Growth Ventures, Inc., Dr. Jones was the worldwide head of human resources and change management consulting services with Aon Consulting Worldwide, one of the world's largest human resources advisory firms. Before that, he founded HRStrategies, a human resources consulting and outsourcing firm with offices throughout the U.S. and Europe, and listed among the fastest growing consulting companies in the U.S. prior to its 1995 acquisition by Aon Corporation. Dr. Jones pioneered the application of technology solutions to recruitment, assessment, and selection program delivery in the 1990s, introducing software solutions to recruiting process outsourcing, assessment, candidate tracking, and compliance monitoring in both the United States and internationally; particularly in high-volume hiring and company start-up settings. Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He regularly serves as an expert witness in matters relating to employee recruitment, selection, and compensation systems compliance for Fortune 500 and other clients.

FREDERICK D. SMITH

Fred Smith helps organizations improve performance by acquiring, retaining, and developing optimum talent. He has over 20 years experience in various human resources and senior management roles, and for the past fifteen years he has directed consulting engagements with over 60 organizations. Mr. Smith consults in the areas of strategic plan implementation, team coaching, workforce planning, talent management, performance, recruitment and assessment, leadership development, executive team development and coaching, and change management. He has worked with the public and private sector at all organization levels, with union and management, and with the professional services, automotive, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, telecommunications, financial services, consumer products, retail, health care, insurance, chemical, and utility industries. Before becoming associated with Pathway Human Capital Advisors, Mr. Smith was the East Region Leader of the HR Management Business in Mellon's Human Resources and Investor Solutions group. He led a team of six consultants, delivering organization development and HR transformation solutions. He also served as the Talent and Performance Practice Leader for Mellon. Previously, he was a Director in the Global Human Resource Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, a Senior Vice President in Aon Consulting's Human Resources Consulting Group. He also has experience in business education at the university level, and corporate experience in human resource management. Mr. Smith holds a Master of Science Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University, where he also completed all requirements except the dissertation for the PhD. He also holds a BS (with distinction) in Psychology from Penn State, and did his first two years of undergraduate work at the United States Air Force Academy. He is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, and an affiliate of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He has contributed chapters to books on absenteeism and performance assessment, and has been a psychology instructor for the Pennsylvania State University. He regularly gives talks on human resources issues to education, business, and industry groups.

Kathryn G. Kniola

Kathy Kniola is an advisor to top business leaders helping them connect their organizations' talent and business strategies. She has a proven track record as a hands-on partner who creates value through effective human capital investment and management. She has worked extensively with management teams on strategy development, team building and change management and has used organizational tools such as multi-rater/360˚feedback and integrated talent management systems. Most recently, Ms Kniola ran Global Talent Management for Aon Corporation, one of the world's largest insurance brokerage and management consulting firms with offices in over 120 countries. There, she created and led the implementation of the firm's global talent strategy designed to support the organization's aggressive business plans. Under her direction, Aon's integrated selection, performance, development and retention strategy was developed and supported by a newly created leadership model and assessment process. She also led the effort to establish global leadership programs and to automate a worldwide performance management system. Prior to Aon, Kathy worked for J.P. Morgan Chase, formerly Bank One Corporation, leading the executive development and succession planning efforts. She worked directly with the CEO and management committee to plan, design and deliver a senior leadership talent assessment and development processes. Ms Kniola is a board member for Jacob's Ladder, a juvenile occupational therapy non-profit, where she is the board sponsor for the Junior (teen) Board. She is an active volunteer and does pro bono work for educational and not-for-profit organizations. Ms Kniola earned her BA in Psychology and MBA from Indiana University.

Mark L. Lifter

Mark L. Lifter, Ph.D. formed Pathway Human Capital Advisors LLC early in 2008. The firm builds on the consulting, leadership and client experience Mark Lifter has gained over many years leading the human capital practices of Aon Consulting, Ernst & Young and HRStrategies.

Ralph A. Mortensen

Ralph brings more than thirty years' experience with strategic leadership, organizational and talent issues to Pathway Human Capital Advisors. He has an extensive background in both executive talent and organizational effectiveness assessment and development, including C-level officer selection and coaching, merger integration, organizational audits and top talent reviews. Prior to joining forces with Pathway, Ralph was a senior consultant to more than 80 diverse clients with YSC Ltd., Aon Consulting and RHR International. His work has taken him across the US and Canada, and to the Caribbean, Europe and Australia. He began his career in various human resources roles in the banking and utility industries. He also has taught business and psychology courses at University of Detroit Mercy, Wayne State University, Oakland University, and Rochester College. Ralph's doctorate is in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Wayne State University. He has a M.A. degree from Central Michigan University and a BA. from Adrian College, both in psychology. He is a licensed psychologist in the state of Ohio. He is President-Elect of the Michigan Association of Industrial-Organizational Psychologists as well as a member of the Human Resources Association of Greater Detroit, and, nationally, the Societies for Industrial-Organizational and Consulting Psychology.

Richard I. Kolsky

Rick Kolsky has spent the past twenty-four years helping clients design and implement effective executive education programs. His personal foucs is helping executives learn to "take marketing to the bottom line". Since receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University, Dr. Kolsky's clients have used action-learning to convert many of today's fads--such as strategy innovation, market-focus, e-transformation, core competencies, relationship selling, and "rightsizing"--from simple buzzwords to bottom-line reality in markets as diverse as infant formula, life insurance, hip-hop, and earth moving equipment. Prior to starting an independent consulting practice, Rick worked in the White House, was a consulting partner for Strategos, The MAC Group and KPMG Peat Marwick, and taught economics and consulted at Yale. Dr. Kolsky holds a Ph.D. from Yale in Economics and a BA-MA in Engineering and Economics from Brown.

Stacey Kaplan

Stacey Kaplan specializes in total rewards, performance management, and general human resources consulting. Ms. Kaplan has over 25 years of diversified human resources management and consulting experience in compensation, benefits, performance management, and organization effectiveness. Prior to beginning an independent consulting practice, Stacey served as a Director and Regional Practice Leader for Deloitte Consulting's compensation and performance management practice. Additionally she has worked in several industries, including retail, financial services, and telecommunications. She served as Divisional Vice President, Compensation and Human Resources for a major national retailer and was Group Vice President for a major regional bank. During her career, Stacey has consulted to a variety of public and private sector companies across industries such as higher education, manufacturing, retail, energy, and pharmaceuticals, as well as not-for-profit organizations. This experience includes: Designing, implementing, and communicating executive and broad-based compensation and benefits programs Working with Boards, Compensation Committees, and senior management to develop compensation and total rewards strategies Designing incentive compensation and performance management programs aligned with business objectives Providing litigation support as an compensation expert witness Designing and conducting custom compensation and benefits surveys Ms. Kaplan holds a Bachelor's degree from Tufts University and a Master's from Central Michigan University as well as a Certified Compensation Professional designation from WorldatWork's Society of Certified Professionals. She serves on the faculty of the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans. She is a graduate of Leadership Detroit XXIII. Ms. Kaplan has published on various aspects of human resources including total rewards, compensation, and attraction and retention strategies.
