Pontchartrain Humane Society is a federal and Louisiana non profit corporation. All of our members are volunteers, and no salaries or commissions are ever paid to our members. We operate solely on donations and sponsorships... Pontchartrain Humane Society provides foster care for abandoned or abused companion animals. We serve primarily the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama Gulf Coast region. We hold adoption fairs for fostered companion animals to find them permanent homes. We publicize and promote the urgent need for spaying and neutering companion animals to reduce the numbers of unwanted creatures abandoned and/or destroyed each year... While PHS has it's own rescue program with it's own policies and procedures, we believe strongly that each organization is autonomous and should have it's own structure and philosophy.
