Charlotte Howard-Jones

Charlotte is an Integrative Counsellor, which means that she draws upon a variety of psychological therapies to best assist the individuals she works with. She can help you work through difficulties and issues that are causing pain and distress. Charlotte has extensive experience in working with people whose lives have been affected by loss. This may be bereavement, loss of self-esteem, or any major change in life. In addition, Charlotte is qualified to work with couples. Areas she can help with include; Communications and difference, Meeting Partners Needs, Dealing with Affairs, Couples in Conflict and Sex - Arousal and Ageing .

Donna Seddon-Butland

Donna has worked for 40 years in the NHS and in private practice as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, a Cognitive Behavioural and EMDR Therapist. Donna's experience also covers working in a GP surgery as Practice Counsellor/Psychiatric Liaison Nurse, a Community Mental Health Nurse and in the Psychological Therapies Service as a therapist. She was also the trust lead in Somerset for women's issues and developed and delivered training in domestic abuse, safeguarding childhood sexual abuse. Donna was Trust lead for veterans' mental health in Somerset before joining South West Veterans Mental Health, and NHSE specialist TILS and Complex Treatment Service in 2016 (previously South West Veterans Mental Health Service), Donna provided assessment and treatment to military veterans, including PTSD. Within this role she worked in consultation and liaison with other service providers in statutory and non-statutory sectors. Always passionate about her work, advocating for people unable to do so for themselves, Donna has sought to help people heal and find their own voice, which in turn, helps towards taking the next steps, leading to a more emotionally healthy life. Donna has previously worked at Prometheus and returns to provide EMDR to adults with trauma.

Dr Aneta Hamilton

Qualifications: Doctor of Clinical Psychology, MSc Child & Adolescent Mental Health, BSc Psychology, Counselling and Therapies Dr Aneta Hamilton is a dedicated clinical psychologist currently working within the NHS, where she specialises in working with children and young people. Her clinical journey has been marked by versatility, having engaged with diverse teams, working across the lifespan and gaining invaluable experience in both community and inpatient settings. During clinical training, Aneta's roles included working with adults and adolescents in teams where focus extended beyond individual care, and involved working with families, and varied systems around individuals. Prior to entering doctoral training, Aneta gained experience in a Personality Disorders Team, where she facilitated Dialectical Behaviour Therapy groups and supported individuals struggling to access secondary services. Aneta also worked in the Talking Therapies team, delivering group and individual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy interventions. Prior to this, Aneta worked her way up in the private sector, from working as a therapeutic support worker to working as a therapeutic lead within residential children's homes. This journey has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of working with individuals across different age groups and backgrounds. Driven by a passion for creating compassionate and non-judgmental spaces, Aneta is committed to supporting individuals in exploring their experiences and understanding how these impact on their day-to-day life. In addition to her doctoral training, Aneta holds a foundation level in systemic practice and is embarking on further training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy to enhance her proficiency in relational approaches.

Dr Caroline Shinner

Qualifications: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, MSc in Applied Neuropsychology, BSc (Hons) in Psychology. Dr Caroline Shinner is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years' experience of working in NHS services with adults with complex mental health difficulties, and with adults with acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions. Dr Shinner offers a friendly and compassionate approach, working alongside individuals to identify appropriate and effective evidence-based interventions to address the agreed goals for therapy. Dr Shinner works with a wide range of psychological difficulties. She specialises in addressing the impact of traumatic experiences and problematic repeating patterns of relating with the self and/or others, using Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). She is currently undergoing further training to become an accredited CAT Practitioner. Dr Shinner also draws on the following therapeutic approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dr Shinner also provides assessments and therapeutic interventions to adults with acquired brain injuries (including traumatic brain injury and stroke) and neurological conditions (including spinal injuries, multiple sclerosis, and functional neurological disorders). Assessments may include neuropsychological/cognitive assessments and mental capacity assessments, while therapeutic work may include strategies to support cognitive functioning, supporting the adjustment to brain injury or neurological condition, and helping people to live a fulfilling life alongside their health condition. In line with professional guidance, Dr Shinner receives regular clinical supervision and engages in continuing professional development.

Dr Emma Bennett

Dr Emma Bennett is a clinical psychologist with almost twenty-years experience working with children, adolescents & adults. Throughout this time she has worked for the NHS in child & adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), adult community mental health teams (CMHTS), hospitals (specialising in sexual health, cancer care & intensive care), specialist trauma & attachment services, & family therapy clinics. Most recently she was Head of Therapy at a specialist school for children with social, emotional & mental health difficulties; she has also been in private practice since 2016. Emma focuses on creating a safe, confidential space, dedicated to listening without judgement & bringing warmth, gentleness & curiosity to the conversations that follow. As a clinical psychologist she is trained in many therapeutic models; more importantly, however, she is trained to understand you as a unique & valuable person who has likely already tried all sorts of way to solve any issues you face. She will make sure that your conversations are specifically tailored to you, rather than being restricted to one particular way of thinking. Emma has post-doctoral qualifications in systemic psychotherapy (i.e. therapy focused on relationships, for example couple & family work). She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) with children, adolescent & adults. This is a therapy focused on helping people reduce distress associated with difficult memories or experiences & trauma; she is a member of the European Association of EMDR.

Dr Jo Cheffey

Dr Jo Cheffey is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and has worked in the NHS for most of her career. She has been practicing as a clinical psychologist for over 20 years working with adults and older adults with mental health problems. In the last 10 years, Jo has also worked as a manager and clinician and latterly as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist leading psychological therapy services in a local mental health Trust. She now works part-time in the NHS as Lead Psychologist for a staff well-being service and she also works also works in independent practice. Jo is experienced in working with people with a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, complex grief, childhood/adult abuse or trauma, andchronic health conditions. Jo's approach is to work collaboratively with clients using a range of evidence-based therapies such as compassion focused therapy, psychodynamic models, and cognitive behavioural therapy. When working with clients she aims to work alongside them to reach an understanding of their difficulties and agree on a set of goals for therapy. This may involve looking back at past relationships and recognising patterns of thinking and behaviours that have contributed to the present difficulties.

Dr Mari Aldridge

Dr Mari Aldridge is a highly experienced Registered Clinical Psychologist who offers a warm and approachable style to those who are experiencing distress, psychological difficulties and mental health presentations. Focusing on working with adolescents (16-18 years) and adults across the lifespan, Dr Aldridge is able to apply her broad knowledge and understanding of theories and therapy models, ensuring that these are evidenced based and recognised by the NICE Guidelines. Dr Aldridge offers her expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) as she has undertaken additional extensive training to ensure that you receive the best possible treatment according to your specific needs; she has also developed her understanding, and has an interest in using Mindfulness Meditation as an additional ‘tool' in enhancing emotional wellbeing. During the initial appointment, Dr Aldridge will always undertake a thorough psychological assessment where she is able to make you feel at ease. She can then devise a treatment plan for your recovery, where shared goals are identified, and therapy styles discussed. By working together from the initial appointment up until discharge, Dr Aldridge is always keen that progress and recovery is being made. Prior to working as a clinical psychologist in private practice, Dr Aldridge worked for the HM Prison Service HQ as a Forensic Psychologist, undertaking risk assessments and interventions with offenders; she has also worked with the NHS in the Community Mental Health Team, a residential family assessment centre as well as in a variety of settings throughout her core training. Since becoming the Clinical Lead of Prometheus Psychological Therapy Centre, she has continued to maintain consistently high standards by ensuring she maintains regular supervision in accordance with her professional bodies guidelines, as well as undertaking extensive continued professional development.

Dr Max Buchanan

Qualifications: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, BSc, PGDip. Dr Max Buchanan is a clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience of working in health and social care supporting people with autism and diverse abilities. Dr Buchanan specialises in the diagnostic assessment of autism in adults. He provides NICE approved diagnostic assessments whilst considering the needs of the whole person. Dr Buchanan recognises that choosing to engage in a diagnostic assessment is a big step so ensures that time is spent building rapport and creating an environment of warmth and curiosity. This means that the sessions can be completed as comfortably and as sensitively as possible. Dr Buchanan brings a strengths-based approach to diagnostic assessment and believes strongly in collaboration as essential to the process. Dr Buchanan is a Cognitive Analytic Therapist,is EMDR trained and spent many years as a Positive Behaviour Support practitioner. He draws on his knowledge and interests in Autism, complex trauma, embodied work (Polyvagal Theory) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to inform his work.

Eve McIntyre

Eve is a Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist holding full accreditation with the BABCP. Eve is passionate about the therapeutic work she delivers, she will strive to create a space whe re you feel at ease and safe. Eve understands that people can often feel stuck when they are experiencing Depression, Anxiety or PTSD. She will take time to value and see you as an individual with your own experiences and strengths. You will develop a shared understanding around your problem, how this developed and what you would like to change. Eve will introduce evidence-based CBT techniques and strategies that are relevant to the areas you would like to change, this in turn can help you feel less stuck. Eve will go at your pace and be alongside you through your work together. Eve is experienced in supporting adults with Depression, PTSD and Anxiety including OCD, GAD, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, Panic & Phobias. Eve has worked in the NHS since 2012 supporting individuals with their mental health. She worked for 2 years in Forensic Mental Health before completing training in Low Intensity CBT (2014) and High Intensity CBT (2019) at Exeter University. During this time Eve has also supervised other therapists and attended additional CPD and training to enhance her knowledge and skills. As of 2024 Eve is now working fully privately.

Jay Dudley

Jay has been Course Co-Director for Somerset's CAT Practitioner Training, and has taught and presented CAT in numerous settings. He is the current Chair of ACAT (Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy).
