In the early days of the American colonies, William Wood wrote of Massachusetts that what was needed in every district was "an ingenious carpenter and a cunning joiner." A joiner uses joints to construct furniture, doors and windows with mortise and tenon, rather than nails and screws as in general carpentry. Nearly 400 years later, the skills of the joiner are still highly sought after in an era of mass produced woodwork...
Kevin grew up in Wales where he trained as a carpenter and joiner. Kevin served a 4-year apprenticeship with a general building firm and obtained his London City and Guilds certificate in advanced carpentry and joinery. After 7 years in a joinery shop, he launched his own business making custom pieces for clients who wanted to upgrade historical homes where mass produced elements would look out of place.
