Dave Matta

David Michael Matta joined the professional staff at Residential Resources, Inc. (RRI) in January 1992 as a Housing Development Specialist and became the Director of Property Development in 1993. His responsibilities include determining client need, site/property selections, developing renovation plans, and creating project budgets to present to lenders. He oversees contractor selection and overall project administration, monitoring for code compliance, materials selection and maintenance of project quality, time schedule and budget. Mr. Matta's primary focus is RRI's accessible modification services for private homeowners. He coordinates renovation plans, contractor selection, directly oversees construction and approval of payments. Prior to working at RRI, Mr. Matta served as Housing Specialist for the Housing Development Corporation of Allegheny County (HDC), a non-profit corporation established to administer the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for housing programs in Allegheny County. Mr. Matta currently serves on the Board of Directors and is a past President of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, a non-profit corporation whose mission is to renovate and improve the housing conditions for low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in the Pittsburgh region. Mr. Matta served a pivotal role in RRI receiving a Preservation Award from the City of Pittsburgh and The Historic Review Commission for a historical restoration to a multi-unit property on Pittsburgh's North Side. He currently is a Community Builder Award recipient and a Jefferson Award nominee for his involvement in helping to improve communities and volunteerism. Mr. Matta earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Development from Penn State University. He later attended Penn State University and majored in Electrical Engineering. He maintains Certification for Administration of BOCA Code and completed various continuing education courses specialized in housing for the physically disabled and low-income housing financing. He also received his Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, which is training from the National Association of Home Builders. Mr. Matta is actively involved in local scouting and local sports programs.

John Jeffrey Lengel received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from St. Francis University, Loretto, Pennsylvania in 1972 and his Master in Public Administration from the Graduate School in Public and International Affairs, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 1996. Mr. Lengel was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Residential Resources, Inc. (RRI), a property development and management company, in March 1998. He also serves as President of RRI's Board of Directors. In this position he is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the company whose mission is to provide housing services to persons with disabilities with a specialty in accessible construction and rehabilitation. From 1992 until March 1998, he held the position of Director of Housing, Mental Retardation Services and was responsible for coordinating the acquisition, rehab, and maintenance of RRI properties. Currently RRI owns and maintains approximately 190 residential properties and has provided housing services to more than 1,300 special needs people since it's inception in 1988. Prior to RRI, Mr. Lengel was Executive Director of Children's Aid Home For Special People, Inc., a residential program for persons with physical and developmental disabilities. He was the first Executive Director of the agency and in his 14 year tenure managed the growth and development of its services. Mr. Lengel has served on various committees related to housing during his time at Residential Resources including the Ending Homelessness Conference sponsored by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services. Mr. Lengel first started his career by working for the South Hills Health System, holding various positions, primarily in residential services. Mr. Lengel is married and resides in the North Hills area of Allegheny County.

Suzanne Evangelista

Ms. Evangelista was hired by Residential Resources, Inc (RRI) in May 2022 as Director, Independent Housing. Ms. Evangelista manages the Independent Housing units that are leased directly to individuals. She maintains our buildings per Housing Quality Standard requirements, completes Section 8 contracts for both City and County Section 8 recipients and maintains records and reports for housing funded through the Affordable Housing Fund, URA, HOME and other various lenders. Her experience working with people with disabilities helps her to assist our tenants in assuming the responsibility of housing. Prior to joining RRI, Ms. Evangelista was a Program Coordinator for Supportive Housing at a human services agency providing housing services to those with mental health disabilities. She helped to place the people she was working with in affordable, safe housing in the community of their choice. Ms. Evangelista graduated from Westminster College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

Thomas A. Grates

Thomas A. Grates, Jr. received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Community College of Allegheny County. Mr. Grates is the Director of Facilities Operations in March 2004 for Residential Resources, Inc. (RRI), a property development and management company. As Facilities Director, he is responsible for the coordination of all maintenance and capital improvements to RRI properties. Currently RRI owns and maintains over 200 residential properties that provided housing services to more than 850 people with disabilities. Thomas is also a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, as well as a certified instructor through the National Association of Home Builders. Prior to RRI, Mr. Grates was the Residential Services Supervisor for 11 years with Family Services of Western PA. In this position, he maintained the health and safety of the individuals being served as well as complying with all Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare 6400 regulations. Mr. Grates was also sole proprietor of a painting and contracting company. Mr. Grates is a U.S. Army veteran where he served as a Team Leader, Combat Engineer and Demolitions and Weapons Expert. He was the Charter Organization Representative for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of Phi Kappa PSI National Fraternity, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. He also serves as President and founder of the Ride for Homeless Vets, a non-profit organization committed to aiding our veterans who have become homeless or are in need of assistance.
