Alisa Grace

Alisa Grace Tot Jovanovic is a second year law student in the French Common Law program at the University of Moncton. Alisa graduated with the French Honours Bachelor of International Studies and Modern Languages at the University of Ottawa in 2020. She has also completed the OIB program at the Lycée Français de Toronto. She speaks fluent English, French and Serbian and intermediate German and Italian. She is passionate about criminal law, and particularly interested in the intersection of vulnerable populations and criminal law. In the future, she aims to start her own law firm.

Jodi Brooks

Biography Jodi has over 20 years of experience working in prisons as a records clerk. She also worked as a judicial secretary at the Ontario Court of Justice. Over the past 10 years she has been working as a legal assistant and an officer manager for criminal defence firms in Ottawa. Jodi has an exceptional work ethic and delivers incomparable customer service. She is a trusted team member at Reesin & Black Law.

Martin Reesink

Called to the Ontario Bar in 2001 after completing degrees at both the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, Martin Reesink has worked since 2007 to build a Law Office capable of quickly and effectively responding to your needs. He understands how criminal charges can damage one's reputation, threaten a work situation, family and social networks.

Valerie Black

Valerie Black is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and practices mainly in the area of criminal law and family law. She holds Common Law and Civil Law degrees from McGill University as well as an Honor's Bachelors degree in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from the University of Ottawa. She is on the board of the Innocence McGill Legal Clinic and the Founder of the Canadian Journal of Law and Justice. Prior to becoming partner at Reesink & Black Law, she worked with Duliot & Basso Avocats, assisting with criminal cases across Québec. Valerie is a passionate and empathic lawyer who will defend your rights to the fullest. Valerie was called to the Law Society of Ontario in March 2021. She holds a joint Law degree, in Common Law and Civil Law, from McGill University and a Bachelor's degree in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from the University of Ottawa.
