Julie O'Connell

Julie is a highly respected and experienced commercial and banking solicitor with expertise in secured lending and banking transactions as well as having extensive general commercial experience in a range of corporate transactions. Julie has advised on a wide range of banking structures including complex financing and re-structuring transactions requiring specialist knowledge of banking and company law. Transactions have included financing of hotels, pharmacies, cinemas and transactions involving the HSE. Julie has also been involved on the finance side in a number of transactions involving acquisitions from NAMA and settlements with NAMA and other financial institutions. Julie has also extensively advised commercial clients in many different circumstances including acquisition of commercial units, business assets and share purchases, partnership agreements and general ongoing advice in company law matters of all degrees of complexity. Julie has also considerable experience in insolvency and related matters, having advised liquidators and receivers and acted for clients in their dealings with insolvency practitioners and has also undertaking associated litigation matters arising, including company restoration.

Melissa Guy

Melissa completed her traineeship with the firm in 2011. Following a period of travel and employment in a city centre firm, she re-joined the firm in 2014. Melissa's undergraduate studies were completed in DCU where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Studies before undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies in DIT. Melissa has extensive experience in a variety of practice areas with a current focus on corporate transactions, commercial property and secured lending. She has advised a wide range of both private and commercial clients including Financial Institutions, Local Authorities and Receivers.

Niall Black

Niall Black is qualified as a Solicitor for twenty five years and has spent most of this with Richard Black Solicitors. Niall Black specialises in private clients and family business. Throughout his career Niall has dealt with thousands of property transactions both residential and commercial, development sites, housing estates and commercial Leases. Over the past six years with the downturn in the world economy there have been significant changes in the complexity and stress for the parties involved dealing with even the most straightforward types of transaction. Niall's experience here has led to the successful completion of many property transactions over the past three years where his insight has protected his client's interests and secured a successful completion of transactions despite the adverse circumstances. In the last couple of years Niall has also been involved on behalf of many commercial clients in re-negotiating their position with their lending institutions. While this is not a position that any individual wishes to find themselves in, with the benefit of the firm's unique insight into banking, Niall has successfully negotiated satisfactory solutions. On the private client side of the business Niall is involved in Wills and Estate Planning ensuring that wealth can be passed to the next generation in the most tax effective manner. With asset values currently depressed it is a good time to consider asset transfers in families, and many clients are taking the opportunity to do this. He also provides family law advice. Niall has large experience in personal injury litigation and currently deals with personal injury litigation for the firm.
