FutureScript's internal virtual object architecture allows it run in a Client/Server configuration where the main file resides on a remote server. In the client/server configuration the client maintains a cached subset of objects from the main file. As objects are modified in the client they are continuously shipped back to the server so that the server's version of the document is always up-to-date. The coupling between the client and the server is loose and tolerant of slow and interrupted connections. This architecture is also adaptable to allowing multiple authors to edit the same document.
