Adam York

Growing up in Davis playing roller hockey and playing ice hockey at SDSU, Adam was coached by SDIA legendary coach David Hough. Adam joined the Mites coaches at SDIA in 2020. Adam brings a positive and enthusiastic attitude to player and team development. When not playing or coaching, Adam enjoys Homebrewing and traveling with his family.

Dan Arel

Coach Dan Arel grew up playing hockey in Rochester, NH where he played for the Division II Spaulding High School hockey team. While playing was always a passion, Dan found himself to be far more a student of the game and understanding how plays worked, and that drove him into coaching. Dan began coaching for the San Diego Oilers as an assistant for their 16U team before moving into a head coaching role first with 8U and then on to 10U. He is currently coaching the San Diego Oilers 10U BB team. He has led his teams to a total of seven championship banners thus far. Dan also serves as the programs Director of Youth Hockey Development. In 2020, Coach Dan was named Coach of the Year by the San Diego Gulls Foundation and joined the NHL Coaches Association's Mentorship Program. He is also a member of the Hockey Players Club's Mastermind of Coaches.

Matt Taylor

I began playing ice hockey when my family moved to Chicago. My friends invited me to join them for the first time. The experience playing ice hockey on that day changed my life forever! I started playing in the Homewood-Flossmoor Youth Hockey Association and continued through my junior year in high school.

RUSS FLYNN

  • Level 4 USA Hockey Certified Coach
He has spent the past four seasons coaching 8U and 10U, travel hockey in San Diego. Currently Russ is one of the assistant coaches for the San Diego Oilers 10U A team. Russ is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach and brings a passion for player development on and off the ice to the teams he works with.

STEPHANE THIBAULT

  • Coach Stephane Grew Up Playing Hockey Outdoors in Montreal
Stephane has coached on over fifteen teams ranging from 8U to 16U. His focus is on teaching basic skills while keeping it fun for everyone. That's how he spent most of his winter weekends. In the summer it was street hockey. As a grown-up he played adult leagues in Montreal, New Jersey, New York and California but it's when he started coaching that hockey became a complete passion.
