The S.E.M. Group was originally established in 1976 by Harry and Janice Wauer as Salisbury Earthmovers Pty. Ltd. as an earth moving sub-contractor. In 1996 the company changed its name to S.E.M. Civil to reflect a shift from being an earth moving sub-contractor to a civil contractor and principal contractor. In 2000 S.E.M. Civil acquired CivilCorp Pty Ltd and later in 2002 Foundation Systems, a mini-piling and under pining foundation company added to the growing capabilities of the S.E.M. Group.
