Melvin Schnapper

Mel has over 40 years of experience in international development and in the American private sector in the roles of training, organization development, organizational change, training, train-the-trainer, change management and metrics for all the above. He has been the Director of OD and Training at Quaker Oats Co., G.D. Searle, Chicago Board Options Exchange, and for the governments of Namibia and Western Samoa. He is published extensively in the training areas of intercultural/international training, train-the-trainers, training objectives and results-based monitoring and evaluation (RBME). US Federal Government projects/clients have included: Matrix Management training for theNational Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and a Human Resources Development needs assessment for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC). His most recent book is Value-Based Metrics for Improving Results: An Enterprise Project Management Toolkit, which is a handbook/textbook for creating, managing, improving, recognizing and rewarding improved performance for ANY function, at ANY level. He began his international work in the Peace Corps in Nigeria in 1965 and has since worked in 5 different continents. His work in the agribusiness sector took him to a range of African countries as Team Leader and Human Resources expert. In the metrics area, he is founder and past-chair of the Metrics Specific Interest Group (SIG) of the Project Management Institute (PMI). He was Performance Manager of Halo for which he developed an online application and tutorial, which enabled staff to input their own metrics for measuring, managing and rewarding project management and related performance. He was Quality Manager and Global Project Management Service Line at Oracle Corporation and Senior Consultant at Oracle's Change Management Practice. Mel's Organizational Development background enables him to bring "high performance to high tech through metrics." He also prides himself on being able to measure anything! Mel has a Masters in Linguistics and a Ph.D. in Organization Behavior with a focus on Training and Development. Mel now makes Amsterdam his homeā€¦ when he's not living overseas.
