Allison H. Hewett - CCO, Chief Compliance Officer

Allison H. Hewett is the Chief Compliance Officer for Sheets Smith Wealth Management. She joined the firm in February, 2002. As CCO, Mrs. Hewett leads the compliance department and oversees all compliance, regulatory, and audit functions. She ensures compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures. She is responsible for the firm's compliance reporting per SEC requirements. In addition to her duties as CCO, Mrs. Hewett is the Senior Operations Manager. She is responsible for all client portfolio data and oversees the firm's portfolio management platform. Client servicing is another aspect of her responsibilities. Allison graduated cum laude from Appalachian State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. She and her husband enjoy watching their two sons play baseball. When not at the ball field, she can be found reading, vacationing at the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

Caroline Shamburg

Mrs. Shamburg is a Winston-Salem native who joined the team at Sheets Smith Wealth Management in the fall of 2017. As a Wealth Manager, she works directly with clients and families to provide comprehensive asset management and financial planning solutions. Caroline began her career in Investment Management in 2012 as an Associate Portfolio Manager at Triangle Securities Wealth Management. Within this capacity, Caroline constructed, implemented, and monitored portfolios aligned with each client's investment goals in mind. She also provided the firm with internal reports and research to improve decision-making and expose trends. In 2014, Caroline joined JBJ Investment Partners, a fee-only investment manager specializing in wealth planning for doctors and dentists. In her role as an Investment Advisor, she assisted clients in portfolio management, retirement planning, and financial planning. Caroline holds a Bachelor's degree in Business with a Finance Concentration from North Carolina State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from East Carolina University. She is an active member of the community and a member of the Leadership Winston-Salem class of 2019. Caroline and her husband, Kevin, reside in Winston-Salem with their daughters, Addie and Mills, and their dog, Riley. In her free time, Caroline enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

David B. Gilbert - EVP

Mr. Gilbert has over 40 years of experience in the investment management business. Prior to joining the company in 1994, Mr. Gilbert was President and co-founder of Salem Investment Counselors, Inc., where he was CEO and portfolio manager. Mr. Gilbert's earlier experience was with Wachovia Bank and Trust Company, N.A., in Winston-Salem where he served as Vice President in Capital Management. Dave received a Master of Science of Business Administration with a concentration in Management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Arkansas. He retired as a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1994. Dave and his wife Carol split their time between Winston-Salem and Pine Knoll Shores. He is an avid golfer and duck hunter but enjoys time with his grandchildren the best.

Emery Pike

Mr. Pike joined the company in 2020 after 15 years as the founder and President of Stratford Advisors. He is a former Senior Vice President with the Wachovia Corporation, where he managed portfolios and provided investment research in the Asset Management group for a variety of foundations, endowments, hospitals, corporations, mutual funds, common trust funds, and individuals. He focuses on ETF and mutual fund research to deliver efficient asset allocation and investment solutions to private clients, retirement plans, and endowments and foundations as an outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO). Emery holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) credential and is a past President the CFA NC Society. He also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) credential from the Center for Fiduciary Studies. Emery serves on the Investment Committee of the Plan Sponsor Council of America, the pre-eminent organization dedicated to improving America's retirement plan system, where he leads the research effort on responsible and sustainable investing. He also teaches as an adjunct Professor of Finance at High Point University. Emery graduated cum laude with "Honors in History" from Wake Forest University and received an MBA from the Babcock Graduate School of Management of Wake Forest University. Emery and his wife Marjorie have two grown sons and have made NC their home since 1980. He is a former assistant scoutmaster and youth soccer coach, and enjoys playing guitar, hot yoga, and hiking.

Jeffrey M. Christopher

Prior to joining SSWM in 2002, Mr. Christopher was the President and Founder of Christopher Investment Counselors. He previously held positions at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Merrill Lynch & Co., and Wachovia Bank and Trust Company, N.A. Mr. Christopher directs client portfolios primarily through two areas of focus. The first involves compounding returns using a diversified portfolio supported by a trend-following model to reduce risk while lowering volatility. The second area of focus uses world class dividend growing companies to build portfolios with reliable dividend income and reliable dividend growth. Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University where he was a student athlete. Jeff is an avid reader. His interests include health, diet, aging and fitness. His favorite fitness activity is cycling but he also enjoys skiing. He has 12 years of experience as a youth sports coach.

John R. Sheets - Chairman

Mr. Sheets began his career in the investment business in 1969 and used the experience he gained from many areas of the investment field to help co-found and develop Sheets Smith Wealth Management into a broadly qualified wealth management firm. He has served on the Board of Directors of selected private companies in which clients have invested, including being Chairman of the Board of a family-owned real estate business. Prior to the formation of SSWM in 1982, Mr. Sheets was Vice President and Manager of the Capital Management Department of Wachovia Bank and Trust in Winston-Salem, which provided financial, tax and investment counsel to some of the bank's wealthiest clients. John received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Delaware and attended graduate school at University of North Carolina at Greensboro. John holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP)® designation. John served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves holding the rank of Captain prior to being discharged. He is an Eagle Scout and has served as an assistant scoutmaster. Additionally, he has coached youth soccer and basketball and served as a financial advisor to his local church. John and his wife Patty live in the Lake Norman area and enjoy lake activities with their children and eight grandchildren.

Paul T. Anthony - President

Mr. Anthony joined SSWM in 1999. He serves as the firm's President in addition to managing client accounts. Mr. Anthony uses stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs to direct his clients' portfolios. Additionally, he evaluates and monitors the firm's individual and private equity investments which include equity funds, fixed income funds and real estate securities funds. Private company investments include companies in the medical products, biotech, and technology sectors. Mr. Anthony holds board observer rights for a few client private company investments and has spent the past several years on the board of directors with the CFA® Society North Carolina where he serves as Treasurer. Mr. Anthony previously worked in securities lending at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in Boston. Prior to joining Goldman, he spent eight years at the National Security Agency as a computer engineer. Paul received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Paul and his wife Liz live in Winston-Salem with their three children. He is active in finance and education at his local church and is a recent graduate of the Leadership Winston-Salem program remaining connected as a committee member. In his free time, he enjoys running, golf, skiing, and traveling with his family.

Phu M. Roy O

Mr. Roy O has extensive experience managing equity portfolios. Before joining SSWM in 2012, he managed equity portfolios for institutional clients at C.S. McKee Investment Managers in Pittsburgh. There he directed research on small-capitalization companies and the information technology sector. In addition to client management responsibilities, Mr. Roy O oversees the Small-Cap Core Equity strategy and supports SSWM's marketing initiatives. Phu holds a Master of Business Administration with honors in Finance from Duquesne University and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Villanova University. Phu enjoys reading, traveling, and the outdoors. He is an active member of the CFA® Society Montreal. He and his daughter Elsie live in Laval, Quebec.

T. Ryan Sheets

Prior to joining Sheets Smith in 2013, Mr. Sheets spent five years with E*Trade Financial. During that time he served as a Client Service Representative, an Elite Client Service Representative, and a Financial Consultant to E*Trade's high net worth clients. He began his investment career in 2007 at Ameriprise Financial where he was a Financial Advisor. Ryan works with Sheets Smith Wealth Management clients in the areas of financial planning, asset allocation, retirement planning, education planning, charitable giving, and intergenerational wealth transfer. Ryan graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing and Management from Appalachian State University in North Carolina. He completed the Executive Certificate Program: CFP® from the University of Georgia and obtained the designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠. Ryan, his wife Heather and their children Hannah, Brooke, Caleb, and Jacob, and their yellow lab Barkley live in the Underwood Hills neighborhood in Atlanta. Ryan is a part of the Zoo Atlanta Leadership Council and enjoys traveling, hiking, and watching his children compete in all their sporting events.

Thomas E. Cartee

Before joining the company in 1997, Mr. Cartee held positions with Banc One Capital Corporation in Columbus, Ohio, Swiss Bank Corporation and First National Bank in Chicago. His experience at Swiss Bank included responsibility for the Credit Analysis Department and relationship management for a portfolio of Fortune 500 corporations in the Midwest. Mr. Cartee utilizes his interests and expertise in macroeconomics, behavioral finance and strategic asset allocation utilizing Exchange Traded Funds to guide and advise his high net worth clients. Tom received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Davidson College.
