Christopher M. Harlan - CEO

Christopher M. Harlan is CEO of Summit Settlement Services. Chris began his career with Summit in 2005 as a member of the company's Marketing Management Program and assumed increasing levels of recruiting responsibilities while developing new and innovative ideas for Summit's nationwide associates. He served as Vice President from 2007 to 2011 and was promoted to President in July of 2011. Since being promoted to President, Summit's production has more than doubled. Chris is a current member of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association, as well as the Society of Settlement Planners. Prior to assuming his role with Summit, he led the production department of an NBC affiliate out of Minneapolis, MN. Harlan is a graduate of Iowa State University. He resides in Urbandale, IA with his wife and three children.

Scott Brown - VP

Scott has spent most of his professional career wroking for trial attorneys and their clients. He was Executive Director of the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association (now named the Iowa Association for Justice) from 1988 through 2006. During that time, he served on the Executive Committee of National Association of Trial Lawyer Executives (NATLE) for several years and was elected by his peers to the office of NATLE President (1999-2000). Scott also served on the Executive Committee of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now named the American Association for Justice) in 2002 through 2004. In recognition of his service to the trial lawyer community, he was presented with the Outstanding Service Award by the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association in 2006, and received the Wiedemann-Wysocki Citation of Excellence from the Association of Trial Lawyers of America in 2001, 2003 and 2004. Scott joined Summit in 2014, "After working in the financial area from 2006 to 2014, I had the opportunity to join Summit Structured Settlements where the legal and financial worlds come together. At Summit I have been excited to be able to reintroduce myself to the trial lawyer community, and proud once again to be working on behalf of plaintiff and workers' compensation attorneys in the process of helping to secure the financial future of their clients." Scott is himself an attorney. He has both a BBA in economics and a JD from the University of Iowa. Scott lives in West Des Moines, Iowa with his wife Mitzi and three daughters. Stan K. Harlan - President

Stan K. Harlan began his structured settlement career in 1978 with Shearson American Express, becoming Vice President and National Marketing Director. Beginning his career in 1978, Mr. Harlan became one of the first structured settlement consultants in the nation. He quickly became one of the nation's early experts in what was a relatively new industry. Stan is dedicated to assisting injury victims, claimants, and their attorneys in resolving their legal financial claims, and advocating the injury victim's right to choose settlement planning advisors and financial and guarantee providers. He is also a founding and voting member of the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA), and is among the first 100 industry professionals from across the country to earn the designation of Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC), offered by NSSTA through the University of Notre Dame's executive program. In November of 1995, the National Structured Settlement Trade Association (NSSTA), in conjunction with the University of Notre Dame, conferred upon Mr. Harlan the designation of Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC), in recognition of his successful completion of course study culminating in a comprehensive examination covering such topics as insurance casualty claims practice, state and federal laws pertaining to tort settlements, medical reversionary and special needs trusts, macroeconomics, the art of negotiation and business ethics. At the time, Stan was one of only ninety-seven industry professionals from across the country to have earned this designation.
