Charles A. Tievsky

Charles A. Tievsky practices immigration law with a passion for achieving his client's objectives, and with a clear understanding of the importance to his clients of every immigration, no matter how simple or complex. His clients include well-known multinational corporations, entrepreneurs, software and technology companies, retail businesses, and individuals, providing representation in regard to the full range of employment and family-based matters. He has limited his practice to business and family immigration law since 2003, and has practiced federal administrative and regulatory law since 1984. Mr. Tievsky has held leadership roles in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and served as Chair of AILA's Washington, D.C.Chapter, representing 1,000 immigration attorneys practicing in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. As Chapter Chair, he was a member of AILA's Board of Governors (2014-2015), responsible for the association's overall governance. In recent years, Mr. Tievsky has also served on the AILA USCIS Vermont Service Center Liaison Committee (2012-2014) and Social Security/State Department of Motor Vehicles Liaison Committee (2011-2012). He has also held several other AILA Washington, D.C. Chapter Executive Committee offices (2010 - 2015), and was Chair of the D.C. Chapter's USCIS Washington District Office Liaison Committee (2008-2010). Mr. Tievsky has been widely quoted in the media on immigration law policy issues, including the Washington Post and other newspapers, and has actively lobbied and testified on immigration and border issues before national and local elected officials. He believes strongly in public service, and played a key role in organizing numerous pro bono legal clinics in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. to provide guidance to potential beneficiaries of USCIS' Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program established in June 2012.

Darlin Gonzales

Darlin Gonzales is the immigration paralegal for Tievsky Immigration Law. She manages the preparation of applications and petitions for immigration benefits from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of State, and various other government agencies. Darlin has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Integrative Studies with a Concentration in Legal Studies from George Mason University.

Marissa Thomas

Job Titles:

Marissa earned her J.D. from Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, North Carolina. During law school, she was a Student Attorney in the Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic in which she successfully represented low-income refugees and asylum seekers in North Carolina with applying for political asylum, permanent residency, citizenship, as well as reunifying families separated by war and conflict. Through her work with multiple international organizations, including the International Organization for Migration and the International Monetary Fund, Marissa has shown her passion and dedication to support the global community. She is eager to utilize this knowledge in her work with Tievsky Immigration Law. Marissa is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.

Venoos Vahid

Venoos Vahid earned her J.D. degree, with a concentration in international comparative law, from the George Washington University Law School in 2022. During her time at GW Law, she was a member of the International Law Review and wrote on her thesis of how sanctions affect women's rights in Iran. Furthermore, she and three of her classmates represented GW Law in the Willem C. Vis international moot commercial arbitration competition. She competed virtually in Vienna, Austria as well as in several virtual pre-moots around the world such as Iran, China, and India. In addition to her course work and activities at GW Law, Venoos had the privilege to intern at the Tahirih Justice Center, the National Immigration Forum, and the Legal Services of Northern Virginia, showing her dedication to uplifting her community through her career. Venoos passed the Universal Bar Exam in July of 2022, and was recently admitted to the Alabama State Bar in August of 2023. She looks forward to using her passion for international law and immigration matters to contribute to the Firm.
