: A native of Norfolk, VA, Ms. Cutchin has lived and traveled extensively in a number of European, Latin American and Asian countries, and has over 15 years of experience in global business, academic and political environments. Transition Success Consulting, established in 2001, provides: cross-cultural training programs to global executives, their spouses and children; and executive and life-skills coaching with strong attention to personal leadership development. Ms. Cutchin serves as speaker, trainer/consultant, professor and author. She consults with and coaches clients to discover effective adjustment strategies to international social and business environments - for expatriates, inpatriates and repatriates. Employing a culturally dynamic systems approach, Ms. Cutchin helps international business executives understand national environments in which they operate from a historical, regional, educational, political and economic perspective. This approach has been proven to help create and sustain healthy cross-cultural adjustment, providing a solid foundation for continued professional and personal development. Ms. Cutchin studies "national innovation systems" (the government-industry-education triad) and, more specifically, the pervasive underlying cultural infrastructure that characterizes each system. Clients benefit from this appoach by gaining a comprehensive understanding of and appreciation for the national context(s) in which their counterparts operate. Prior to establishing Transition Success Consulting, Ms. Cutchin worked at the USA headquarters of Bank of China where she performed business development, teaching and marketing functions. She has worked with the University of Maryland's Institute for Global Chinese Affairs, involved in leadership training programs with various Chinese provinces and institutions; American University in Washington, DC teaching International Business & Trade; and the Fashion Institute of Technology (New York City) where she currently teaches International Business & Culture. Academically, Ms. Cutchin has accepted invitations to speak at business seminars at Columbia University, Fordham University and Baruch College in New York, and Shanghai University and Shanghai Foreign Language University in China. She has taught a graduate-level international business course at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in New York; was active in curriculum development and delivery for the World Trade Institute at New York's Pace University; and also taught international business and trade at Washington, DC's American University. These courses address theoretical and practical topics of culture as they relate to the conduct of international business transactions; and also cover current business events, comparative politics and economics, and comparative cultures. Ms. Cutchin holds a BA in political science and an MBA in international business. She is comfortably conversational in Mandarin, and is a member of a wide range of academic and business institutions. Ms. Cutchin is also privileged to have received a lifetime ordination, in 1998, as a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church (USA.) She lives in Alexandria, VA. Virginia L.
