TS-dot Engineering Limited was founded by Michael Gschwendtner in 2010 and is based in Auckland, New Zealand. Michael has a degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on theory and research from the Technical University in Munich, Germany, and a PhD from the University of the Federal Armed Forces of Germany in Munich. His doctoral research was on the experimental investigation of the Eckert number phenomenon - a peculiar heat transfer situation occurring at high rotational speeds of a heated cylinder in a cross-flow - involving a number of optical measuring techniques. The subsequent ten years of intense Stirling cycle research at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, have led to a comprehensive understanding of how Stirling machines operate and what their peculiarities are in terms of design, performance, cost, and reliability.
