Courtney Davidson

Dr. Cheryl March

Dr. Cheryl March received her Bachelor of Science from the College of William and Mary and graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She worked at a small animal practice in Maryland before joining VVERC in 2014. Her interests include ultrasound, critical care, and internal medicine. She lives with her husband, children, and cat, and likes to spend time outdoors. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, biking, and crafting

Dr. Heather Jue

Dr. Heather Jue received her B.S. in neuroscience from The College of William and Mary in 2006, then attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine from 2007-2011 before making Virginia her permanent home. She practiced emergency medicine in Northern Virginia for three years before joining VVERC in 2014, and she became Medical Director in 2016. Her professional interests include critical care, feline medicine, toxicology, and soft tissue surgery. She has spent many years volunteering her time with local organizations that focus on spay/neuter, rescue, and the human-animal bond. Dr. Jue is also a proud volunteer with FARVets, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting animal welfare both domestically and abroad, and she has led trips around the world to provide veterinary care to communities in need. In her free time, Dr. Jue loves traveling and spending time in nature. She has backpacked over 700 miles of the Appalachian Trail and hopes to complete the entire trail someday. Her greatest joy is spending time with her husband and son, as well as their 3 cats and 2 dogs. She is a competitive, long-distance, open-water swimmer and also swims on a local masters team.

Dr. Katelyn Godwin

Dr Godwin obtained her bachelors of science from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY before moving to Virginia to attend Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She has always been passionate about emergency medicine and joined VVERC in 2023. In her free time, she enjoys fishing with her husband, hiking, cooking, and going to the gym.

Dr. Nicholas Milano

Job Titles:
  • New Jersey. the Son of a Physician and a Nurse
Dr. Nicholas Milano grew up in Livingston, New Jersey. The son of a physician and a nurse, he had always harbored an interest in the medical sciences, but chose to pursue an accounting degree at Bucknell University. When working as an accountant proved too exciting, Dr. Milano decided to adopt the quiet, serene life of a veterinarian. After graduating from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Milano pursued advanced training as a rotating intern at a busy referral hospital in New Jersey. He received a further six months of specialty training in dentistry and oral surgery before heading into general practice. When not seeing patients, Dr. Milano can usually be found at the movies, working out, reading a book, or looking for a good place to hike. He's excited to have joined the staff at VVERC and can't wait to explore everything this part of Virginia has to offer.

Jennifer Nail

Jennifer joined VVERC in June of 2023 after 28+ years working in human healthcare Administration. She is a Certified Information Reporting Professional (IRS) through Institute of Finance & Management. She acquired her PCA, CPR, BLS and Hospice certifications and focused on the needs of the elderly during the pandemic and currently still so today. She was a volunteer and pet transporter for Siamese Rescue for 3 years. Jennifer still transports and pet sits for friends and family. Jennifer has always loved animals, big, small, furry, scaley, etc. Her friends would attest that she is that 'ONE FRIEND' who will swerve off the road to ensure she doesn't run over a frog or squirrel and that stink bugs and spiders in her home, are captured and released outdoors. Animals have always brought her happiness and she enjoys every single one she meets. Jennifer is excited to bring her knowledge and dedication to a company she whole heartedly believes in the work they do. In Jennifers spare time you will find her hiking with her best friend and soul mate, Bella-her fawn colored Pit whom she rescued from the local SPCA in 2018.

Karen Buhrman

Karen came on board with VVERC in 2016. She has her PhD in Business Management with a minor in Human Resources. She has over 30 years experience in the human and veterinary health fields in management. Karen has several adopted human children and 3 grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys travel to new adventures, spending time with her grandsons and 5 rescue dogs and 3 rescue cats as well as gardening and reading.
