Aaron Marcus

Aaron Marcus brings a diverse background to Weiss. After graduating from Princeton University, he obtained a Master of Education degree from Boston University. Aaron's first career was teaching high school and middle school at various private schools in Boston, Chicago, and Pittsburgh, the latter while his wife, a physician, completed a residency. Along the way, he graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law and worked at a national consultancy where he focused on wealthy client services. During the pandemic Aaron shifted his professional focus more to tax work. He completed the work necessary to be confirmed as an Enrolled Agent. He's delighted to be working at Weiss and looks forward to learning with and from his colleagues. Outside of the office he and his wife enjoy travelling to national parks within the U.S., both with their three children and as a couple. Aaron's idea of a great getaway is to go for a hike in the wilderness and return to an outside porch where he can sit on a comfortable chair and read.

Allen J. Plenner

Outside of work, Allen enjoys singing in choir, participating in group exercise classes, and traveling with his family.

Andrew McCue

Andrew is a manager in the firm's accounting and assurance department. Andrew began his career with Weiss as a tax season intern and has now been with the firm for over six years. Outside of the office, Andrew enjoys watching movies with his two dogs and wife. Andrew also attempts to keep up on hobbies like beer brewing, gardening, and fishing.

Bonnie Aberly

Bonnie specializes in bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, consolidated financial statement preparation as well as business and software consulting and set up. Bonnie consults and works with new clients to train their personnel on tax, reporting, and recordkeeping compliance while continuously supporting current business clients. Bonnie will care more about your business than you do! Before working in the public accounting area for 17 years, Bonnie's prior internal company positions ranged from controller of a large retail chain, accounting manager of independent insurance agent (where she obtained her insurance licenses in property and casualty and life as well as accident and health), and accountant for a video production company and recycled paper card company.

Brett Champan

He currently assists Weiss with individual income tax filings. Britta Knott

Britta is the firm's Administrative Manager and has been with Weiss & Company LLP for over 30 years. Britta is responsible for supervising and monitoring the work of administrative staff including hiring and training. Britta provides coaching and guidance to ensure maximum efficiency. Her day-to-day responsibilities include firm-wide implementation of project management and maintaining procedures, delegating and prioritizing tasks, tax return processing and file management, managing client databases, organization of mailings, tracking of continuing education credit, generating financial statements, proposals, and business valuations. Britta also organizes internal and external company events and coordinates volunteer and charitable opportunities. Outside of work, Britta enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, cooking, and reading.

Bryna Kurtz

Bryna is a senior manager with over 20 years of experience in public accounting. She provides accounting and tax services for small to medium size closely held businesses. Bryna has worked most extensively in the areas of individual tax compliance, family trusts and estate, and family wealth planning. Her areas of specialization include family trusts, tax consulting for not for profits and tax planning for high net worth individuals. Bryna provides accounting services in English and Hebrew. Bryna enjoys traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren in Israel and Boston.

Christopher S. Bozarth

Chris is an accounting services partner who leads the firm's accounting & advisory services department. He has more than 25 years of accounting, auditing, business valuation and consulting experience. Chris's experience includes servicing clients in many industries, such as distribution, manufacturing, entertainment, construction, not for profit, restaurants, advertising, healthcare, and professional service firms. He shares oversight of the employee benefit plan audit practice of the firm. Chris was born and raised in Kalamazoo Michigan and moved to the Chicago area in 1998. When Chris is not in the office (or at a client's office), he can be found with one of his three children at their various activities around Northbrook, or on the golf course.

Dan Weitzman

He focuses his practice on closely-held businesses and individuals in diverse industries, including professional practices, service companies and healthcare, providing them with advice, planning and compliance on a broad range of tax matters.

Daniel A. Fortman - CEO

Dan is an assurance services partner who has more than 35 years of accounting and auditing experience. He has managed audits of privately held corporations, partnerships, and not-for-profit entities and is responsible for clients ranging from $5 million to $75 million in revenues. Dan's analytical approach to accounting and auditing has served him well in his quest to master the game of golf. He and his wife enjoy travelling together and spending time with their two grown children.

Dennis also stays active on the weekends by playing organized baseball and working on his golf game.

Edyta Kowalski

Edyta is a senior in the firm's accounting services department. She started working at Weiss in December 2023, but she started working with Weiss professionals almost a decade earlier. From 2015 to 2022, Edyta worked with Weiss personnel through her work as a controller at another company. Dan Fortman, Managing Partner at Weiss, reconnected with Edyta in late 2023 and by the end of that conversation, Edyta knew she was meant to work at Weiss. The transition was practically seamless since she knew so many people at the firm, but more importantly, she knew the culture at Weiss. Within Weiss, Edyta focuses on accounting and controllership to a variety of clients. She is also bilingual in Polish. When she is not working, Edyta is busy traveling, hiking, skiing, or carpooling! Both of her children are on the swim team, and they have demanding schedules with practices and meets. Edyta is usually there to cheer them on.

Erin A. Zivilik

His practice encompasses a broad range of client industries with a focus on real estate development, packaging, and financial services.
