James H. Whitfield

Dr. Whitfield is a native Texan who started his medical education after honorably serving in the United States Marine Corp. After his military service was completed he obtained his undergraduate degree in Business Management at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Dr. Whitfield then attended The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where he obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. After completing a Podiatric Surgical Residency at Dallas Southwest Medical Center, he began his private practices in Rockwall and Dallas, Texas. Dr. Whitfield is a member of Texas Podiatric Medical Association and American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Whitfield holds a faculty appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas. Dr. Whitfield is Board Certified by the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry. Dr. Whitfield has been married to his wife Sharon since shortly after they graduated from high school together in Kilgore, a small town in East Texas. They have two boys, J.R. and Tadd.

Turf Toe

Activities such as football, basketball, soccer, field hockey and lacrosse show the high incidence of injury to the great toe joint on artificial surfaces. Other non-sporting causes include change in shoe gear, limited range of motion of the great toe joint, and sometimes flat foot conditions.
