Amber Reagan

Amber Reagan is a dedicated professional in the field of addiction treatment, hailing from the town of Northfield, NH. She pursued her higher education at Plymouth State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Social Work. Her academic journey continued as she obtained her LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) certification while actively working in the addiction field. During her time at Concord Hospital as part of her practicum, Amber gained valuable insights into the insufficient treatment facilities and care available for individuals grappling with Substance Use Disorder. This experience ignited her passion for becoming a helping professional in the field of addiction, and she has been committed to this cause ever since. Amber's career began in a co-occurring facility immediately after college, and she has continued to work diligently in the addiction treatment field. Benjamin Friedman

Ben graduated from Antioch University in May 2021 with a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a focus in Substance Abuse. Since his very first semester in grad school, Ben has been drawn to be of service to the people that are suffering from addiction. He enjoys working at Avenues since his higher purpose & the long-term care model of Avenues are so perfectly aligned. Ben approaches therapy with an existential framework and utilizes an eclectic approach to treatment, understanding that each individual is unique and is motivated and inspired differently. As Carl Jung said, "Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul." Ben has a dog named Yoda who is his best friend in the world.

Brad has worked as an addiction counselor for over two decades. In that time, he has changed countless lives and supported an untold number of recovery journeys. Although Brad originally intended to move on to other areas of mental health counseling, he has found his work in substance use disorders so rewarding that he just can't leave it. Brad still draws inspiration from a card he received years ago from the mother of a client, thanking him "for giving my son back." He is driven by the idea that each individual life positively impacted by recovery impacts an entire family for the better. He is known for the ubiquitous Hawaiian shirts he wears to work every day. Brandi Keen

Britt Benson

Britt Benson, PLPC, NCC, received her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Comparative History of Ideas from the University of Washington in 2011. After subsequently obtaining a paralegal studies certificate in 2012 from the same institution, Britt gained life-changing insight into the criminal justice system and developed a passion for helping justice-involved individuals. Britt earned her M. Ed. in Clinical Counseling from the University of New Orleans and became a National Certified Counselor in 2019. She completed her clinical internship at the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Juvenile Diversion Program and gained post-grad experience as a counselor at the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Adult Diversion Program. Britt's work within the criminal justice system has provided her with an acute appreciation for the many ways in which addiction touches her community and galvanized her commitment to helping it heal. Britt is dedicated to authentically and ethically serving individuals from diverse backgrounds who are struggling with mental health concerns, substance use disorders, and other chronic illnesses. Her existential theoretical approach to counseling provides clients with a non-judgmental space to explore their experiences of the human condition, and empowers clients to turn toward life through interpersonal and intrapersonal skill development, connection, and meaning-making. Caroline Caronna is a proud graduate of the Southern University of New Orleans School of Social Work in 2018. Caroline has worked in substance use treatment as an IOP counselor, in Admissions, and as a general chemical dependency Social Worker.  She has been an important member of the Avenues family since 2019. Her special interests include group dynamics and the important and restorative work that can be done in group and individual therapy as well as family counseling. When Caroline is not at Avenues with clients, she is the pet parent of a clingy chihuahua mix breed dog, Baba.

Cassandra Hunter

Cassandra is a graduate of Lackawanna College with a bachelor's degree in social work. She has also obtained certifications in trauma-informed yoga along with grief and loss counseling. Cassandra believes in family education about the disease and finds her passion educating and supporting both clients and family members on their road to recovery. Ahe prides herself on her hands-on approach and ability to help clients find internal motivation for change. Cassandra lost her brother in 2020 to a drug overdose, and she uses his story to empower others to walk the road of recovery. When Cassandra is not at work you can find her spending time with her children, watching football (Go Steelers!), or out on her daily run.

Cathy Justice

Cathy Justice, a dedicated primary counselor at Avenues Recovery Center at Eastern Shore, graduated from Wor-Wic Community College in 2018 with an Associates of Applied Science degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. She began her career at Hudson Behavioral Health in Salisbury, MD, where she worked as a counselor at both their residential inpatient facility and their 3.1 Halfway Housing program. In her ongoing quest to improve the services she brings to her clients, Cathy is now pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a focus on mental health counseling. Cathy is passionate about helping those in need and prides herself on her ability to connect with people of all backgrounds. Donna Doolen

Donna Doolen, M.Ed., LPC, has been working in the addiction field for over 10 years and at Avenues Recovery Center for over 2 years. She started as a school intern with Addiction Recovery Resources and set her career roots with the company, finding gratitude and humility every day. She entered recovery herself in 2005 and returned to graduate school at the University of New Orleans in 2007, earning her Master's of Education degree in Counseling. Since then, Donna has served as Primary Program Counselor, Residential Clinical Manager, Intensive Outpatient Director, RTP Lead Counselor, and, ultimately, Clinical Director of Townsend Recovery & Detox Center in New Orleans. Donna's previous career was in hospitality; she earned her bachelors degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism from the University of New Orleans. Donna evolved from managing boutique hotels to planning and hosting large-scale events for thousands. Her catering and design skills led her to curate junkets for Caesars Palace and to travel extensively exploring culinary trends in other cities. Her decades of organizational prowess and attention to detail enhance her management skills. Donna has made it her mission to serve the population and families that battle the disease of addiction. Many have called her God's warrior on Earth. She volunteers in the community and started a Substance Abuse Ministry (SAM) in her church parish.

Elizabeth Cagnolatti

Elizabeth Cagnolatti, FNP-C is a native of DeRidder, Louisiana and a resident of Donaldsonville. Liz graduated from Our Lady of the Lake College of Nursing and Allied Health with honors. Her further education includes a bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Loyola University, and a master's of Science in Nursing with a specialty in family practice from Louisiana State University. Liz has 25 years of emergency and urgent care experience and is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has practiced family medicine since 2010 and opened a private practice in a medically underserved area in Baton Rouge. Her contributions were instrumental in bringing quality healthcare back to the downtown Baton Rouge area. After just two years, she was presented the Louisiana Economic Development Small Business Excellence State Award and the Microbusiness Enterprise Corporation of Ascension Parish small business of the year award. Liz obtained her Suboxone Waiver in 2018. At the time, she was one of only 10 nurse practitioners in the state of Louisiana to obtain certification. Emily Wilkins

Emily Wilkins, LCMHC, MLADC has worked in the addiction field for over a decade. Emily has a background in family therapy and clinical mental health counseling and brings a trauma-informed approach to her work with clients struggling with addiction. Prior to becoming a director, Emily worked as a BHT, family therapist, individual therapist, and clinical supervisor. Her wide-ranging experience has given her a broad perspective. She understands the importance of each role in treatment, and has an uncanny knack for supplying the necessary guidance and support to ensure that each member of her clinical team is primed for success. Emily approaches substance use treatment with an unceasing positive outlook. She believes deeply that each client deserves unconditional kindness and respect, regardless of the behaviors they are struggling with.

Holly takes great pride in making our clients feel genuinely cared for. Holly hails from Pasadena, California, and has made her home in Fort Wayne since 2011.

I am one who has been to treatment multiple times at other facilities and was not able to stay in long-term recovery. Avenues was a much needed experience that has renewed my hope for sobriety. Jamel Garrett

His career path was shaped by a profound realization during his deployment to Iraq in 2008, where he discovered his passion for assisting others through their struggles. This revelation led him to transition from Security Forces to Mental Health Services. In 2014, after becoming a certified counselor, he was stationed at the DoD prison in Charleston, SC, solidifying his desire to continue this work beyond his military retirement. Jamie Goodwin

Jamie has been working in the mental health field since 2017. He grew up in Methuen, Massachusetts, and later moved to New Hampshire in his early 20s. When he learned he was going to be a father, Jamie decided he wanted to set an example for his children by pursuing an education. It took him 10 years, off and on, to find his calling in psychology. Once he realized his passion, Jamie changed his major at Mount Washington College and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology. He then continued his education at Southern New Hampshire University, where he obtained a Master's degree in Psychology. Currently, he is pursuing a degree in Mental Health Counseling at his alma mater, with the goal of becoming independently licensed. After spending several years in sales, Jamie had a change of heart when he lost someone close to him to an overdose. He wanted to make a difference in people's lives by helping them find peace and happiness without turning to substances. Jamie has since found great fulfillment in his career and is grateful for the wonderful people he has met and worked with along the way. Jamie lives with his dog, Huey, and has two grown sons. He enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and doing other physical activities with his family. Jamie is also learning to play the guitar and speak Spanish, two things that have been on his bucket list. Jane Quigley

Jane has been providing counseling services to a diverse population of individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders for over 8 years. She began her career as a counselor during her internship while still an undergrad student and went on to receive her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through New England College. Jane now holds masters' level licenses in Addiction and Mental Health Counseling and has received additional training in Trauma Informed Care, Acquired Brain Injury, EMDR, and Clinical Supervision. She has found that she thrives in the atmosphere of residential treatment and the family-like work environment. Jenna Smith is from Tunkhannock, PA. She went to Keystone College and achieved a MPAS at Marywood University. She is CAQ-psych. With over 26 years of experience in social work and mental health, Katie has a passion for addiction treatment and helping others. In December 2022, Katie joined Avenues Recovery Center to lead the clinical team. Her vast clinical expertise and guidance enable her to provide the best possible treatment and outcomes for clients. Katie believes in proper diagnosis and treatment as the foundation for success in recovery, and she brings a unique perspective to addiction treatment. Outside of work, Katie is a family-oriented person with five children and one grandchild on the way. Lee Funkhouser hails from Redkey, Indiana. He has worked at Avenues Recovery Center for over two years, moving from the role of Group Facilitator to Primary Therapist. Lee's Higher Power has given him the opportunity to regain 30 years of life lost to addiction. Stephen Kessler

Stephen Kessler, MHS, LPC, LAC, has been working in the addiction field since 2003. He began his career with Dr. Alphonse Kenison Roy at Addiction Recovery Resources where he worked in a variety of settings including as Primary Counselor in the programs of Intensive Outpatient, Residential Treatment, Continuing Care, and Intake and Assessments. After Hurricane Katrina, Stephen was promoted to the position of Residential Program Coordinator, a position he held for 12 years before being promoted to Clinical Director. In 2018, Stephen continued his work as Clinical Director with Avenues Recovery Center by overseeing both the Residential and IOP programs and supervising a staff of dedicated counselors. In 2019, Stephen began working in direct client care again due to missing direct interactions with patients. Stephen freely shares his experience and expertise by mentoring new counselors in the addiction field. Stephen uses a Cognitive Behavioral / REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) counseling approach to help patients to become aware of their distorted thinking and how it plays into their addictive mind. Stephen received his master's degree in 2003 from LSU Health Science Center. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. Stephen lives in Metairie with his wife, Melissa, and their two young daughters, Lucy and Reagan.

Tammy Brown hails from Baltimore, Maryland, but has made her home in Salisbury for the last 16 years. She serves as the administrator of Avenues Recovery Center at Eastern Shore, and is a Certified Peer Support and a Registered Peer Supervisor. Tammy is passionate about her work and takes pride in being able to help people just like her. As a person in long term recovery, Tammy has not used any mood or mind altering substances for almost 16 years. This journey has been challenging but rewarding, and she takes great joy in being able to give hope to others who are struggling with similar issues. Watching hope come back into clients' spirits where they were once hopeless upon intake is a priceless experience for her. Tammy is a proud mother of three grown children, aged 37, 33, and 25, and a grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren. The beach - any beach - is her best therapy, as any stress melts from her body the minute her feet hit the sand. She looks forward to her Cancun trip every year anew! She is truly grateful for the life she is living today as a person in recovery and tries to live every day to the fullest because she has never seen this day before.

Whitney Straight is the Executive Director at Avenues Recovery Fort Wayne, and has worked in the addiction field for over 15 years. She serves on several statewide and community boards relating to addiction recovery and the communities they serve. Whitney has an MBA, MDiv, and master's in Mental Health Counseling and bachelor's of Science in Addiction Counseling. In her spare time, Whitney enjoys weightlifting, contact sports, and traveling adventures with her husband, Robert. They have three children aged eight, six, and two, respectively.

William Hayden Zoller

Hayden is currently a LMSW, and is actively pursuing further credentials as a LCSW. His passion for addiction treatment stems from his own recovery journey, which began on June 3, 2013 with the help of an addictions treatment center. In his work, Hayden uses a diverse toolkit of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, and IFS (Internal Family Systems). He believes in a collaborative approach with clients, fostering a supportive environment where both client and counselor work together to address individual needs and goals. Beyond his professional life, Hayden is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, sings and plays various musical instruments, and is a devoted weekly player of Dungeons and Dragons. He is proud papa to two beautiful girl dogs.
