Anthony Tomchesson

Tony graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer with the State of Texas. Tony has twenty-four years of construction experience which includes twenty years of civil design experience with the Wallace Group and Barnett Contracting, Inc. He is responsible for all aspects of civil design and engineering, which includes performing all engineering calculations and design computations necessary for the preparation and completion of civil site drawings for land development and drainage projects. The civil drawings he prepares includes the design of the overall drainage area map with drainage calculations, a site grading and drainage plan, storm sewer design, domestic water and sanitary sewer plans, and construction details specific to each project. Tony also manages our equipment maintenance facility, oversees land surveying operations and performs regular site inspections for quality control assurance.

Bob Barnett - Founder

Bob Barnett founded our company in 1969 with the vision of bringing a new standard of quality to the construction industry in Texas. Established from humble beginnings, we have grown to close to 100 employees. We operate two sand and gravel pits with a third pit opening in 2018, and our work reaches a 50 mile radius from Waco, Texas. We have maintained Bob Barnett's exceptional standards of quality and strive to keep a transparent relationship with our clients. The result? Successful projects and satisfied clients. Founder, Bob Barnett passes away. He was active in the company he founded until his passing.

Mike Barnett - CEO, President

  • Barnett 's CEO and General Manager
Mike is Barnett's CEO and General Manager. He is active in all phases of the business with a focus on estimating, cost control, and office management. He also oversees public relations, equipment acquisition and maintenance, materials management, and is our general troubleshooter. Mike has thirty-five years of continuous experience in all aspects of this business. Mike attended Southwest Texas State University where he played catcher on the baseball team.

Patrick Barnett - VP

As Vice-President, Patrick manages the operational aspects of the company and is the General Superintendent for all projects. He supervises all field personnel, daily equipment distribution, materials purchasing, and sets and checks all grading elevation dimensions for accuracy and design compliance. Patrick is proficient in AutoCAD design software, Softdesk, Agtek GPS modeling software for machine control, laser machine grade and slope control, as well as most other land surveying equipment. He has twenty-eight of experience managing utility, earthwork, concrete and asphalt projects. Patrick is also certified to install segmental block retaining walls and oversees the installation of retaining walls on our projects.

Scott Barnett - VP

Scott rejoined Barnett Contracting in 2003 after an eighteen year career in public education and high school football coaching. He manages the logistical aspects of the company, which includes the complex daily scheduling and movement of equipment and personnel across our job sites. He holds an Underground Fire Certification (RME-U-1726) with the State Fire Marshal's office and oversees all fire line installations. He also completed the OSHA 510 Safety Course and leads our company safety program, manages earthwork estimating utilizing Agtek Earthwork 4D software, coordinates staff planning meetings and serves as Project Manager for all projects. Scott graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in Physical Education.
