Dania Home Society is a non-profit organization and doesn't receive enough funding for all our specialized equipment and program enhancements. We depend on individuals and organizations that generously support Dania Home with much needed donations to provide quality housing and residential healthcare for seniors in our community... Dania Home - As early as 1938 the thought of a retirement home for senior citizens, similar to the ones in Denmark, was brought forward, and in 1940 a sick, lonely old gentleman, Mr. Carl Mortensen, on a visit to Vancouver from Ponoka, Alberta, expressed his wish that there should be a place for old Danes, like himself, to find comfort. The dream became a reality when in February, 1941, a committee was elected at the Danish Church Annual Meeting. Dania Home was incorporated on February 12, 1942, and officially opened on July 23, 1944...
